Upcoming Board of Trustees Meetings
|
|
|
Dear FJUHSD Staff, Students, and Community,
We’ve officially launched into the spring season! I hope you had a relaxing Spring Break and were able to enjoy the company of family and friends. As we begin the 4th quarter of school, we look forward to sharing time together celebrating our students in the various year-end events and activities. We will be recognizing our District Art Show winners and Winter Sports student athletes at the April Board Meeting. Information on the art showcase is in our newsletter below; be sure to click on this to see all the amazing work our students are doing.
In addition, I would like to commend our team of educators for their constant dedication to improving student achievement. This month we will be celebrating National Assistant Principals Week from April 3-7 and Administrative Professionals Day on April 26 along with many other awareness days this month. Thank you to all of our staff for all you do for FJUHSD. I am inspired by the many achievements and success stories coming out of our schools such as Troy CyberPatriot recently winning its 4th National Title at the Cyber Nationals Competition in Washington DC. Way to go TRHS! Thank you to our Board of Trustees and the community for their support of the many amazing programs at each campus. By working together we achieve many great things!

Mental Health Awareness Month
|
|
For FJUHSD, Mental Health Awareness Month is an opportunity to support our students and staff through education, outreach, and an ever growing system of mental health support available. In preparation for Mental Health Awareness Month in May, FJUHSD continues to expand resources and services that promote student wellness. In partnership with Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA), the following items will be used at each site to help us promote wellness this month. The items include:
- Stress Balls: to promote de-escalation
- Bubbles: to promote intentional deep breathing as a calming technique
- Phone Wallet: to promote students carrying information/resources for their wellness
- Pens: used for students in the wellness center for journaling, writing, etc.
OCHCA is one of many community resources that we are proud to partner with to support our students and staff. We are thankful for our partnership with OCHCA and look forward to our district students accessing these resources and the multitude of mental wellness resources that are now available in FJUHSD.

The winter weather has not been the best for digging a pool! Our contractor continues to excavate on dry days. A break from the storms will allow us to move forward and get the project back on track.

Suicide Prevention Lifeline
988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. While some areas may be currently able to connect to the Lifeline by dialing 988, this dialing code will be available to everyone across the United States starting on July 16, 2022.
When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.

California Universal Meals
|
|
For the 2022-23 school year, FJUHSD was approved to implement the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) at Buena Park, Fullerton Union, La Habra, and La Vista High Schools. Parents with students who attend these schools will not be required to complete a lunch application form. Conversely, FJUHSD was not approved for CEP for Sunny Hills, Sonora, and Troy High Schools. While meals will continue to be served to students at no cost at non-CEP schools, the District will be encouraging parents who may qualify for free and reduced meals to complete a 2022-23 lunch application. The District Food Services team is here to support you. Please contact us for any questions or assistance at (714) 870-2820 or by email at foodservices@fjuhsd.org.
