Dear FJUHSD Staff, Students, and Community,

As we step into 2026, our January theme, Inspired by You, reflects our deep appreciation for the students, families, staff, and community members who make FJUHSD a vibrant and thriving district. Your dedication, partnership, and support inspire the work we do every day, and we are grateful for the collective commitment to student success.

January is an important time for families to learn more about the opportunities available across FJUHSD. Our Open Houses and school events provide a meaningful opportunity to visit campuses, meet dedicated staff, and explore the programs that support student growth, achievement, and well-being. These events also lead directly into Open Enrollment, allowing families to take the next step in selecting the school that best fits their student. We encourage families to visit our District and school Instagram accounts to view new videos, carousels, photos, and montages featuring teacher highlights and testimonials, along with student experiences and campus photos. Click the link to visit our Instagram, https://www.instagram.com/fjuhsd/. Be sure to also follow your school’s Instagram page for site-specific highlights.

Open Enrollment will take place from January 12 through January 30, 2026. If you live within FJUHSD boundaries, this is your opportunity to discover the outstanding programs, opportunities, and experiences available at each of our schools.

Also, we would also like to recognize January as School Board Recognition Month and extend our sincere gratitude to our Board of Trustees for their leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to our students, staff, and community. Their service and guidance are essential to the continued success of FJUHSD.

Welcome back, and we wish everyone a Happy New Year filled with inspiration, growth, and endless possibilities!

Warmest wishes,

Steve McLaughlin, Ed.D.

Superintendent

Board Meeting Highlights

At the December 9, 2025 Board Meeting, we were proud to recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our fall athletic programs. We are truly inspired by the dedication, perseverance, and excellence of our student-athletes, whose hard work and commitment have led to remarkable milestones across the District. While not all teams were able to be present to be recognized, their accomplishments are no less significant and deserving of celebration. We congratulate

La Habra High School Football, crowned CIF Champions, for their exceptional teamwork, resilience, and championship performance. We also proudly recognize Fullerton Union High School Girls Golf, Fullerton Union High School Boys Soccer, and La Habra High School Girls Golf, whose seasons included advancing to CIF Finals, winning a CIF championship, and qualifying for State playoffs. These achievements exemplify what it means to compete with integrity and represent FJUHSD with pride.

We also welcomed our new Board leadership at the meeting. We are pleased to introduce our new Board President, Marilyn Buchi, and Clerk, Lauren Klatzker, and look forward to their leadership and continued service to the Fullerton Joint Union High School District.

Pause 4 Paws: Bringing Calm and Connection to Campus During Finals

During finals week, the Pause 4 Paws Club once again demonstrated the importance of connection, compassion, and intentional wellness within our school community. Through thoughtful planning and collaboration, the club successfully hosted its first pet wellness event of its kind, featuring trained therapy dogs and their certified handlers.

As students prepared for exams, the presence of the therapy dogs offered a welcome pause from academic stress. Research shows that interactions with trained therapy animals can help reduce anxiety, lower stress levels, and improve focus—benefits that were clearly felt throughout the event. Smiles, relaxed conversations, and moments of calm filled the space as students took time to reset and recharge.

The event’s success was made possible by the dedication and persistence of the Pause 4 Paws Club members, who worked closely with professional dog handlers to ensure a safe, respectful, and positive experience for all. By following safety guidelines and educating participants about animal-assisted support, the club demonstrated strong leadership and care for both people and animals.

Pause 4 Paws continues to model how student-led initiatives can positively impact campus wellness. Their commitment to mental health and community building is something to celebrate, and this event serves as a reminder that sometimes the simplest moments—like spending time with a friendly dog—can make the biggest difference.
