Superintendent's Message
Dear FJUHSD Community,

As I finish my first year as your Superintendent, I wanted to tell you again how grateful I am to be part of the team serving our community's students.

During the year, I visited campuses, talked with administrators, met staff, students and families and began to learn more about the good work happening in our district. What a joy it was to see students on campus and hear the enthusiasm of both certificated and classified staff members to be back in-person. I spent time with district staff, community partners, and our Board of Trustees, and look forward to more listening and learning.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, and all of the FJUHSD staff, we sincerely hope all of you are enjoying family, friends, nature and some down time. Summer days can be restorative. We are already excited about welcoming our students back to school in August, and look forward to making many more meaningful connections as we continue to work, learn, and grow Together.

Steve McLaughlin, Ed.D.

Food Services

Summer meals will be provided to all students, including students from other school districts (18 and under) during the summer school break Monday-Thursday between 10:00-11:30 am (approximately). Meals will be distributed on every campus near the cafeteria facilities.
For the 2022-23 school year, FJUHSD was approved to implement Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) at Buena Park, Fullerton Union, La Habra, and La Vista High Schools. Parents with students who attend these schools will not be required to complete a lunch application form. Conversely, FJUHSD was not approved for CEP for Sunny Hills, Sonora, and Troy High Schools. While meals will continue to be served to students at no cost at non-CEP schools, the District will be encouraging parents who may qualify for free and reduced meals to complete a 2022-23 lunch application. The District Food Services team is here to support. Please contact us for questions or assistance at (714) 870-2820 or by email at [email protected].

Remodel Update
June’s newsletter included communication regarding the temporary relocation of the Human Resources Department due to the office remodel. The HR staff temporarily relocated to what used to serve as the Facilities and Construction office and the Technology Learning Center (TLC). The remodel is scheduled to conclude in the coming weeks, but already there has been significant progress. The HR department continues to serve staff and community members!

Here is a sneak peek of the progress below.

Suicide Prevention Lifeline

988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. While some areas may be currently able to connect to the Lifeline by dialing 988, this dialing code will be available to everyone across the United States starting on July 16, 2022.

When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.
