Dear FJUHSD Staff, Students, and Community,
As we step into the vibrant month of March, I am thrilled to share our theme for the month: "Building Futures." This theme reflects our unwavering commitment to creating opportunities where every student, staff member, and family can grow, succeed, and thrive.
Our District takes immense pride in the accomplishments of our staff and students. Their achievements reflect the hard work, dedication, and spirit of excellence that define FJUHSD. This year, we are proud to recognize and congratulate all of our Certificated and Classified Employees of the Year at each of our school sites. Your dedication and contributions are invaluable to our students, schools, and community.
We are especially excited to honor our District Teachers of the Year, Maroun Nehme from Buena Park High School and Carolynn Cardenas from La Habra High School, as well as our District Classified Employee of the Year, Teresa Zambrano from Sonora High School. These outstanding individuals exemplify excellence, dedication, and a deep commitment to our students and community. Congratulations to all!
Additionally, we are thrilled to share that Jill Brand, Data Technician/Registrar at La Sierra High School, has been named a finalist for the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) Classified Employee of the Year in the category of Technical Services.
As we celebrate these remarkable accomplishments, we also look forward to a well-deserved break. Spring Break is scheduled for March 17-21, offering a time to rest, recharge, and enjoy special moments with family and friends.
Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to FJUHSD. Together, we are Building Futures—creating a community where everyone can thrive and succeed.
Warm regards,
Steve McLaughlin, Ed.D.
Superintendent

It's National Nutrition Month!
March is National Nutrition Month—a time to celebrate healthy eating and active lifestyles! At FJUHSD, we proudly support student wellness through California’s Universal Meal Act, ensuring all students enjoy free, nutritious, and delicious meals every day. Our Food Services Department highlights this commitment by engaging District leadership in meal tastings and fostering appreciation for our dedicated cafeteria staff. This year, school cafeterias will also offer breakfast and lunch for purchase to staff, giving them the opportunity to experience the same high-quality meals served to students. Together, we build brighter futures through the power of nutritious food and active living!

Building Healthy Relationships!
This spring, our District Mental Health teams are dedicating efforts to promoting healthy relationships within our school communities. In collaboration with student groups like the Associated Student Body (ASB) and Mental Health Specialist teams, we are working to educate our students about the importance of healthy, positive connections.
Recently, our LaVista/La Sierra High School students took part in a creative activity where they completed two hearts: one highlighting the key elements of a healthy relationship, and the other expressing something they love about themselves. This exercise helped foster self-love and mutual respect.
Together, we are nurturing a community where students thrive emotionally, socially, and mentally.
