"Together We Celebrate"
Dear FJUHSD Staff, Students, and Community,

During the month of May, we celebrate the many people who make a difference in the lives of our students. Please join us as we celebrate National School Principal Day, Teacher Appreciation Week, and Classified Employees Week. In May we also recognize many awareness days, including Mental Health Month and Jewish Heritage Month. In addition, we would like to say thank you to our Student Board Member Jacqueline Woo and SAC Vice Chair Mi Ya Hsueh for their service and wish them success as they enter college.

As we take time to celebrate the impact ALL of our dedicated employees have made during the 2022/23 school year, we also celebrate with our high school graduates. Congratulations to the GRADUATING CLASS OF 2023! You have worked hard all year long and the time is finally here for YOU to celebrate! Congratulations to all that you have accomplished during your time at FJUHSD. The skills and relationships you have developed will serve you well as you get ready to take your next step.

Lastly, we would like to thank our parents, guardians, family, and community members, along with our Board of Trustees who have supported our students and our schools this year. It is your involvement and genuine care for education that helps us be the best we can be Together!

Steve McLaughlin, Ed.D.
Superintendent

Facilities & Construction Updates
Sonora High School - Pool
We have been enjoying two weeks of dry weather and the efforts of the contractor have produced results. The pool bottom is shaped to its final depth. The plumbing for the pool bottom has been installed and is ready for a Health Department inspection next week. The floor of the pool mechanical room is now ready for concrete.
Honoring our Food Service Departments
During National Nutrition Month
2023 marks the 50th anniversary of National Nutrition Month (NNM), but it also is the year California became the first State in the Country to implement the Universal Meal Program (UMP), where each student is provided a nutritious meal for both breakfast and lunch each school day at no cost. The District celebrated all of our Food Service employees at each campus during the week of March 6-9. We want to thank them for all their hard work and dedication to our students. ext
Suicide Prevention Lifeline

988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. While some areas may be currently able to connect to the Lifeline by dialing 988, this dialing code will be available to everyone across the United States starting on July 16, 2022.

When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.
California Universal Meals
For the 2022-23 school year, FJUHSD was approved to implement the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) at Buena Park, Fullerton Union, La Habra, and La Vista High Schools. Parents with students who attend these schools will not be required to complete a lunch application form. Conversely, FJUHSD was not approved for CEP for Sunny Hills, Sonora, and Troy High Schools. While meals will continue to be served to students at no cost at non-CEP schools, the District will be encouraging parents who may qualify for free and reduced meals to complete a 2022-23 lunch application. The District Food Services team is here to support you. Please contact us for any questions or assistance at (714) 870-2820 or by email at foodservices@fjuhsd.org.
