Dear FJUHSD Staff, Students, and Community,
As we welcome the month of November, our theme “Inspired by Community” serves as a meaningful reminder of what makes our District so special. It is the people, our families, staff, students, and local partners who come together to create an environment where every learner feels supported, seen, and empowered. In that same spirit, we want to remind families of the importance of taking care of one another during this season. Please take a moment to review the Supporting Our Families with Meal Kits letter, which outlines available food support and expanded meal programs for students. Additional resources are also available on the FJUHSD website for your convenience.
This month, we’re proud to celebrate three incredible accomplishments that reflect the power of our collective efforts: Sunny Hills High School has been officially recognized as an Orange County Impact School, a designation that honors their innovative programs and positive contributions to the educational community; Buena Park High School’s Early College Program has been selected as a 2025 Golden Bell Award Winner by the California School Boards Association (CSBA), highlighting programs that significantly improve student outcomes; and Troy High School has been named a 2025 California Blue Ribbon School, a prestigious honor recognizing academic excellence and closing achievement gaps. These achievements are a testament to the innovation, dedication, and excellence that define FJUHSD, and we are incredibly proud of all three school communities.
As Thanksgiving approaches, I encourage all of us to take a moment to slow down and appreciate the people and experiences that bring joy and meaning to our lives. Whether you're spending time with family, reconnecting with friends, or simply finding space to reflect, this season offers an opportunity to show gratitude for both the big and small things. Please be sure to review our Pupil Attendance Calendar for important upcoming dates, including holidays and our scheduled non pupil days.
Wishing you a warm, restful, and joy-filled Thanksgiving season.
Steve McLaughlin, Ed.D.
Superintendent

Human Resources is Inspired by Our Community
In continuing with our Human Resources vision of CARE—Connecting, Appreciating, Reflecting, and Elevating, our Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Mark Miller, has attended several community events, such as the Marching Band Community Showcase at Fullerton Union High School, the Homecoming Rally at Sunny Hills High School, and the Fullerton Council Parent-Teacher Association Luncheon at Fullerton Elementary School District.
He is continually inspired by the incredible efforts of everyone who helps make these events possible. Our Band Boosters and parents are always there to support students and create wonderful performances that bring pride to our community. Our PTAs consistently go above and beyond to support not only our students but our staff as well.
Through their events and activities, they uplift spirits, foster community involvement, and bring joy to our school sites. Our activities directors, band directors, teachers, and volunteers play a vital role in helping us create meaningful and engaging experiences for our students and families.
We deeply appreciate their dedication, hard work, and the positive impact they have on our schools and communities!

Inspired by Community: Honoring the Past,
Enhancing the Future at the Historic Fullerton Auditorium
| | | | |
Improvements continue at the historic Fullerton Auditorium, ensuring this treasured landmark will serve the community, students, and staff for generations to come. Originally built in the 1930s, the stunning auditorium underwent a major renovation in 2023, featuring a new accessible lobby, updated seating, and seismic upgrades. Since then, improvements continue with enhanced lighting, sound system, and restoration of the iconic Wurlitzer pipe organ. This organ has been an integral part of this historical building and was also built in 1930.
For nearly a century, this cherished venue has brought people together for inspiring performances and events. Today, it stands renewed, honoring its storied past while embracing a bright future inspired by community and dedicated to serving students, staff, and neighbors for generations to come.

National Homeless Youth Awareness Month
November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month, a time to recognize and support students experiencing housing instability. Many young people in our communities face homelessness due to circumstances beyond their control, yet they continue to show incredible strength and determination.
The District remains committed to ensuring every student has access to the resources and support they need to succeed. We encourage families and staff to learn more, show compassion, and reach out if they know a student in need of assistance. Click the link to view our Community Resource page on our website.
