Reflection...
We Begin Again in Listening
Friends,
This month we begin a new theme: Listening is an act of love.
Our 9 AM dialogue gathering will continue this week and our Sunday services will explore going beyond listening to hearing: through music, new voices and listening for the voice of the heart.
We begin this Sunday with an All Music Service and great music from our Vocal Ensemble. We end the month with a beloved tradition of Samhain, our Day of Remembrance.
I know this is a bit lengthy, so you'll need to click the link below to continue reading.
Author Nicole Krauss writes in her book,
The History Love
:
"So many words get lost. They leave the mouth and lose their courage, wandering aimlessly until they are swept into the gutter like dead leaves. On rainy days, you can hear their chorus rushing past: IwasabeautifulgirlPleasedon'tgoItoobelievemybodyismadeofglass-I'veneverlovedanyoneIthinkofmyselfasfunnyForgiveme...."
In blessing,
Rabbi Chava

"UUCGT Vocal Ensemble ~ All Music Service"
John Bailey, Music Director
The Vocal Ensemble has expressed a desire to sing more often. With that in mind we are planning more music from Vocal Ensemble members. To start things off, we will be doing an all Vocal Ensemble service this Sunday, October 1st. This should be a very enjoyable service with lots of vocal music, duets, solos and quartets joining the Vocal Ensemble. We will also be inviting those who would like to join in the singing to join the Vocal Ensemble in the singing of "Blue Boat Home."
Join us for a delightful morning of music! Begin your day with song!

Topic:
National Park Service future management concerns
A December, 2016 National Geographic article entitled "The Parks of Tomorrow" looks at changing conditions in the environment and how the National Park Service responds to them in managing for these changes.
Max Old Bear will discuss the effects of changing climate and other changes including population control (over-crowding by visitors and over population of wildlife), endangered species protection, wildfire management, exotic species control, over development, and modern public expectations.
Copies of the National Geographic article are available in the front entry.
New! A Landscaping Team is now being formed!
Our first goal: an overall, comprehensive, integrated plan for our space.
If you have ideas, please come & share!
Anyone who's interested may join in (experience is not a prerequisite!).
On October 8, we will walk the UU property following the morning service, so that we can begin to build a plan with a solid foundation. Following the walk, we'll have a short (30-45 minute, promise!) organizational meeting, so everyone can make an informed decision about being part of this Team.
This whole process will be repeated on October 15. You may attend either day.
Come, join me -- this is going to be fun!
