Celebrating Lutheran World Relief on Sunday, March 19

On Sunday, March 19 we have the joy of welcoming Pastor Tim Krick from Lutheran World Relief!

Many of us know a little about the amazing work LWR does around the world -- everything from disaster relief to humanitarian assistance. Pr. Tim will share with us some specific examples of how our congregation's support helps enable their life-saving work in so many countries. He will also join us after worship for a presentation. You will be proud of the work LWR does in our name!

Sharing photos and videos from Calumet

What a fantastic time we had at Calumet, once again! Thank you so much to all who participated!

Many of you have said you have photos and videos you'd like to share with others. We're working on finding the best way to share these photos in one place.

Before we do that though, we want to make sure we have everyone's permission to use their photos in any public/social media capacity. Please take a moment to fill out the form below to indicate how you consent to your and your children's images being used for church purposes. Thank you!

Wednesday Nights in Lent

On the Wednesdays of Lent, we will gather for a meal and our contemplative service of Evening Prayer. We will also read and discuss a small and very accessible book called Baptized, We Live: Lutheranism as a Way of Life by Dan Erlander. Free copies of the book are available at church.

If you've ever wanted a basic "Christianity 101" refresher, this is for you!

We will discuss the unique way Lutherans understand the faith as a way of seeing, hearing, teaching, and following. We will cover all the basics of Christian belief and practice from a distinctly Lutheran point of view. This will not be a lecture, but a fun, interactive time of exploring our faith together! If you are not able to attend the book conversation in person, you can connect via Zoom with the button below.

Dinner and Book Conversation: 6:30 PM

Lenten Evening Prayer: 7:30 PM (around 20 min.)

Sunday's Sermon

Coming of age

It’s hard to describe exactly when it happens, and it happens for everyone a little differently, but there’s a point in a young person’s life, usually around the time they are preparing to be confirmed, that we call their “coming of age” – their transition from childhood to adulthood. And by this we mean not only the changes that are happening in their bodies, although that is part of it, but a kind of emotional maturity that begins to take root.

Think about that time in your own life for a minute – especially if you are living in that time right now. You start to be able to see the world on your own, not only through the eyes of your parents. Your are able to articulate what you really believe and why. You experience love and loss in a way from which no one can protect you, like when you were children. And perhaps most importantly, you are able to make their own decisions and learn from them, even if that learning is painful.

This Sunday

Third Sunday in Lent

In today’s gospel the Samaritan woman asks Jesus for water, an image of our thirst for God. Jesus offers living water, a sign of God’s grace flowing from the waters of baptism. The early church used this gospel and those of the next two Sundays to deepen baptismal reflection during the final days of preparation before baptism at Easter. As we journey to the resurrection feast, Christ comes among us in word, bath, and meal—offering us the life-giving water of God’s mercy and forgiveness.
