Important Fall Ministry Update

Dear First Lutheran Family,

We want to let you know that Erika Cada will be away from the office for a period of bereavement leave followed by scheduled time off - July 30 through August 30. During this time, we ask that you keep Erika and her family in your prayers as they experience this season of loss.

Because of Erika's absence, our fall Children's and Youth Ministries will begin Wednesday, September 16th. This will include the following:

• WOW Meal on Wednesdays
• Wednesday Worship
• PreK - 5th Grade LIFE Night classes
• 678 Confirmation
• 9 to 12 Youth Group

(Please note: The Mid Week Meal WILL continue each Wednesday in Erika's absence.)

The First Lutheran staff is working together to prepare for a wonderful fall season and will keep everyone informed as plans and schedules are finalized. If you have any concerns or questions regarding these areas of ministry, please contact the church office during this time.

We appreciate your understanding, your flexibility, and your continued prayers for Erika. Thank you for your patience as we care for one another as the body of Christ.

If you enjoy mixing up casseroles while socializing with others in the kitchen, please sign up to help us cook each Wednesday!

We assemble 18 large casseroles each Wednesday @ 1pm-3:30pm to serve 260 people.

Our cooks come in on a rotating basis, and we need some more to add to our group.

Social Concerns Committee:

First Lutheran Garden Market began the Weekend of June 27th and 28th. 

Home grown fruits, vegetables, flowers and baked goods are available to First Lutheran Church members starting the weekend of June 27th and 28th. These products will be available through the annual First Fruits/Garden Market. In this program local gardeners and bakers from First Lutheran are encouraged to provide the church with excess goods including garden and baked goods. These goods will then be made available to First Lutheran members prior to and following church services on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings. The garden market will go throughout the summer and into the fall. Members are encouraged to give a free-will offering for the products taken. The collected funds will be donated to Lutheran World Relief. 

As in the past, a garden cart will be made available to both providers and buyers to showcase the products. This cart will be found in the church narthex. Gardeners and bakers are encouraged to bring their donations to the church on Saturday afternoon after 4:00 p.m. or prior to the church services at 8:15 or 10:15 a.m. on Sundays.  

Be sure to check out the products available on a weekly basis. We hope to see you at the market.

The last W.O.W. meal was on Wednesday, April 29th and will be discontinued until fall when LIFE Night starts back up in August.

Starting on Wednesday, May 6th you are welcome to order meals for delivery or pick up with MWM since the W.O.W. meal will be over for the summer. Please reach out to Erika and or the church office to place your order! W.O.W. meals will resume when the fall Wednesday services start

back up in August.

Women’s Bible Study

 Come and join other ladies on Friday mornings as we begin a new study about women of the Bible entitled “Brave and Beloved” by

Meredith Storrs. 

“Women of the Bible are just like us, but their particular lives, choices, and problems can sometimes feel foreign when we read them today. Through their stories, we can glimpse a vision of what it means to be a godly woman, but sometimes their experiences leave us scratching our heads. This Bible study looks specifically at key women in Scripture to discover how their stories upend cultural expectations and reveal the nature and character of the God who created us all.”
