LIFE Night Theme:

Jesus’ moment of hunger and rage presses us to deal with the problem of hunger in our world today. That’s hard – since we don’t experience hunger ourselves it hard to feel true compassion for those who do. That’s a major reason we do not believe we can do anything about it. Where is our faith? It is time for us to bear the fruit of the promise of our baptism and move some mountains.

Butter Braid Pickup!!

This Wednesday, March 25th

After 12:00 Noon, please

Check the list in the kitchen to see where

your braids are located.

Are you aging because of inertia? Do you feel like you are doing what you can to make the most of the rest of your life? The Aging with Passion and Purpose Conference is an opportunity to explore how we can age well. It's designed for anyone who is getting older, anyone who works or lives with someone who is getting older, and professionals who work with people as they age. Speakers will talk about how we are purposeful in our approach to life as we age, including topics like Spirituality, Wellness, Living in Retirement, Understanding Medicare, Planning, and Living in Community. The conference takes place on Friday March the 27th, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Attend as much as you can! The conference is free and will be webcast at First Lutheran Church, 2146 Wright Street. Call the church office or register online at Aging with Passion & Purpose: Age-Friendly Communities | Department of Gerontology | University of Nebraska Omaha.

Phase 2 Work Day April 18th

The next phase of our important work at the Potters field site at the Blair cemetery will be taking place this spring. In the next few weeks we'll have another round of tree work by Steve Hytrek of NuView landscaping that will hopefully open up the entire site to the northern boundary. On Saturday, April 18th, we will begin the process of planting ground cover to hold up at the bank on the South side of the site, where there has been erosion over the years. With thanks to Milt and Jane Heinrich for their donation, we will be transplanting Lamium from their home to the cemetery site. We will begin at the Henrich house at 8:00 am with the process of digging up plants and then beginning at 9:00 am we will be planting at the Potters field site. Please bring small hand shovels, a wheelbarrow if you have one, and wear work gloves. There is a sign-up sheet at the welcome center with more details.

Good Friday Cantata performed by the

FLC Chancel Choir

All are invited to join us, Good Friday, April 3 at 7pm, for a poignant Tenebrae Service We Remember Calvary by Joel Raney.

This service is designed to recreate the emotional and spiritual aspects of the Passion Story through music presented by your FLC Chancel Choir.

Both traditional and contemporary hymns and songs are combined with congregational singing, scripture reading, and narration to paint a vivid and moving picture of Christ's last days and his journey to the cross.

Women’s Bible Study

Ladies…now that the holidays are behind us, are you looking for something to keep the spirit of Christmas alive in your hearts and in your lives?  Come and join other ladies on Friday mornings as we begin a new study about women of the Bible entitled “Brave and Beloved” by Meredith Storrs.

“Women of the Bible are just like us, but their particular lives, choices, and problems can sometimes feel foreign when we read them today.  Through their stories, we can glimpse a vision of what it means to be a godly woman, but sometimes their experiences leave us scratching our heads.  This Bible study looks specifically at key women in Scripture to discover how their stories upend cultural expectations and reveal the nature and character of the God who created us all.”

This Bible study meets on Friday mornings from 9:15 to 10:45 in the church library.  No need to sign up, just show up.  Questions?  Email Susie Pinquoch at spinquoch@gmail.com or call (402) 533-3735.
