Social Concerns Announcements:

This Saturday and Sunday, at the August 7th  and August 8th Worship services, you will have the opportunity to hear from HABITAT for HUMANITY Director Ken Mar, about plans to repair and improve five homes in Blair in 2021, and to contribute financially to this project (or to make plans to do so in the future)! This is exciting news for our community which you won't want to miss!

Feed our Kids

Did you have the opportunity to catch an update on the BACKPACK PROGRAM in the August Ambassador? FLC has been supporting this initiative for several years. It’s sponsored by Food Bank for the Heartland and provides weekend backpacks full of food for kids in area schools. One in five children in Nebraska and western Iowa under the age of 18 is at risk for hunger. This program, along with others we support, ensures kids don’t go hungry on the weekends when they are away from school. If you’d like to make a donation to this worthy cause, you may do so online at https://donate.foodbankheartland.org or by mailing your

contribution to: Foodbank for the Heartland Attn: BackPack Program 10525 J Street Omaha, NE 68127.

FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH SUMMER GARDEN SHARE

This year First Lutheran gardeners will be donating vegetables and fruits to be given to families who receive the food assistance through First Lutheran Church. FLC gardeners are asked to bring their donated vegetables and fruits to the church on Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or, preferably, on Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Signs will be in place directing the donors as to where in the Fellowship Hall the vegetables should be placed. Because of this change, gardeners are encouraged to stick with the basic vegetables or fruits which they have grown.

Thank you in advance to ALL of our generous FLC gardeners!
