Pastor Glen's focus for his message for

this upcoming weekend:

Almost 135 years ago a small group of Danish settlers founded not only First Lutheran Church, but a seminary, a printing house and a college. It must have been a daunting task, but they faith was great! Is ours the same? We are not called to build great institutions, but to build great faith. May God bless us with faithfulness.

Sunday, November 12th – 3:00 pm

PMA Patrick Gregory, a Spiritual Director with the Nebraska Synod, will be with us to help us as we seek to wrap our search for a new Pastor in prayer. He will guide us in several prayer practices that will become a regular part of our life in the months ahead. We will also have updates from the Call Committee and Pastor Glen on where we are in the process and what we can expect next.

Craft Fair is Coming Up!!!

The women of First Lutheran are sponsoring their annual craft fair fund raiser on November 18, 2023. Volunteers are needed to bring baked goods for the bake sale, work at the bake sale table, serve the noon lunch, and clean up. Sign up sheets are available at the welcome center. Please consider helping at the craft fair. For more information, please contact Rhonda McMurtry

The Church Picture Directories have finally arrived! They are labeled and you can pick them up in the office. Please stop by and talk to Dawn in the church office to get your picture directory. If you have any questions please call the church office at (402) 426-4073.

In the next several months it is our goal to educate the congregation on the

activities of the Committees at First Lutheran. We will plan to highlight the

activities of one of these committees each month. In doing this we will plan two separate activities for each committee. These include:

1. A presentation by the committee chair person or representative of the

committee to the Church Council regarding the committee’s activities. This

would include the goals of the committee, who makes up the committee,

what some of the activities of committee are, and how the Church Council

could assist the committee in their work.

2. Following the presentation to the Council, a short summary of the

committee’s activities will be included in the weekly E-Blasts sent to the

congregation.

The goal of this summary again will be to highlight the activities of the committee and hopefully increase the interest in the committees by the congregation and possibly help In the recruitment of the members to the committees.

Social Concerns Committee:

Our ELCA WORLD HUNGER emphasis at FLC will be on Saturday, November 11, Sunday, November 12, and Wednesday, November 15.  Informational flyers and offering envelopes for your donations will be handed out to you when you come for worship services on those days.  Millions of our neighbors around the globe are struggling with food insecurity. Hunger is currently far above pre-pandemic levels. God is calling us to respond to the needs of the world now more than ever! For "Inasmuch as you have done it to the least of these who are members of my family, you have done it onto me" (Mt. 25:40b).

Watch for the CHRISTMAS ALTERNATIVE GIFT EXHIBIT that will appear at the November 18 FLC Annual Craft Fair and throughout the Advent Season.  It could solve your dilemma of what to buy for "the person who has everything" and help others in need--a win-win situation! Also Equal Exchange Fair Traded products--coffee, tea, chocolates, and nuts--will again be offered. These items can make great "stocking stuffers."

Do you participate in our online worship services?

If you watch our services on Facebook or other sites, please like the post or leave a comment each time. This will help us improve our accuracy in attendance numbers at First Lutheran.
