This week we officially embarked on Phase One of a multimillion-dollar multi-phased campus improvement project. Earlier this month, we received unanimous approval from both our Board and Constituency to begin a journey that will bring dramatic and much needed improvements to our facilities.
In the coming weeks and months, we plan to take you along with us on this journey as we share updates, details of upcoming additions, opportunities for involvement, and much more. This is an exciting time to be part of the FLEC Family!
1.) The Walls Come Tumbling Down
The original building on campus was built in 1973 during a time when open concept classrooms were all the rage. This meant that no walls existed in the design. Classrooms operated within earshot of each other, and as you may imagine, this fad in education didn’t last long. Partitions were incorporated three years later to provide a more traditional learning environment. While those partitions were fortified somewhat over the years, these “temporary walls” remained in large part until today. New permanent and properly outfitted walls will be built in their place later this summer.
Enjoy these photos of the demolition.
