Spring 2025 registration will open in a few days on February 10th on our website. Course guides can be found on our website as well as at many local businesses, libraries, and our FLI office. We have many exciting updates in this month’s newsletter, so please take time to read it closely. We look forward to seeing everyone back for the beginning of the spring semester on March 3rd!

South Bend Alumni Association Community Hall of Fame
The South Bend Community Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations! The South Bend Alumni Association honors individuals who have made a significant contribution to our local community and beyond. Members of the Hall of Fame set an example for all of us, especially the students who benefit from the support of the SBAA, by modeling what it means to be a civic-minded individual, dedicating their lives to service and betterment of the whole community in the following categories: Arts, Athletics, Business and Industry, Education, Public/Community/Government Service, or Science & Technology. For 2025 Selection, nominations are due by March 1st, 2025. Our Founder, Fr. Louis J. Putz, C.S.C.
Fr. Putz viewed life as a chain with three distinct links: the age of learning, the age of earning, and the age of returning. As he approached retirement in the early ‘70s, he envisioned a school for the “third-agers,” where students returned to share their collective experience, knowledge, and talent in service to others.
As Fr. Putz often said, “Service adds years to your life and life to your years.” He envisioned a school for seniors who would come together for the pure joy of learning and social interaction, as well as personal and spiritual growth.
On September 27, 1974, that vision became a reality.
