June flew by in a flash—and what a month it was at Forever Learning Institute! One of the highlights was traveling with 56 of our Forever Travelers on an unforgettable 10-day river cruise along the beautiful Danube. From the historic cities to the scenic countrysides, it was truly a memorable journey. The relationships that were built will last forever! Marjorie A. Bowles will always be remembered for her radiant positivity and genuinely caring spirit. A longtime student at the Forever Learning Institute, Marjorie brought her uplifting energy into the classroom as an instructor during the Spring 2025 semester, where she taught The Power of Positivity. Her students deeply valued the wisdom she shared and the warmth she brought to every session. Her presence and impact made her one of our most memorable and beloved instructors.

We'll visit The History Museum and the Civil Rights Heritage Center, offering a rare chance to discover local treasures that highlight the city's history from diverse viewpoints. Don’t miss this opportunity to gain new insights into our community's past!
This excursion will include lunch at The History Museum and alternating presentations. Transportation provided by Cardinal Buses, picking up at FLI.

Portugal and the Douro River Cruise
Join FLI in June 2026!
A symbol of Portugal’s birth and growth as a nation, the Douro has long been the country’s lifeline. Spend two nights in the cosmopolitan capital of Lisbon, Portugal with a tour showcasing the famous sights of this remarkable city. Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta
Join FLI for a high flying trip
October 9th–14th, 2026
Founded in 1972, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta began with just 13 balloons and has since grown into a spectacular event featuring over 600 balloons from around the globe. Immerse yourself in the charm of historic Albuquerque, a city steeped in Native American culture, as you witness the breathtaking "mass ascension" of uniquely shaped balloons soaring into the sky at sunrise. Explore the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, stroll through the captivating streets of Old Town, and discover the beauty of Santa Fe, nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains at the foothills of the Rockies. The tour also includes a visit to the Pecos National Historic Park, home to ancient archaeological ruins and 19th-century ranches, offering a rich blend of history and adventure.

Our Founder, Fr. Louis J. Putz, C.S.C.
Fr. Putz viewed life as a chain with three distinct links: the age of learning, the age of earning, and the age of returning. As he approached retirement in the early ‘70s, he envisioned a school for the “third-agers,” where students returned to share their collective experience, knowledge, and talent in service to others.
As Fr. Putz often said, “Service adds years to your life and life to your years.” He envisioned a school for seniors who would come together for the pure joy of learning and social interaction, as well as personal and spiritual growth.
On September 27, 1974, that vision became a reality.
