Bits and Pieces

| | Click on the Picture for more Information | | It’s almost May, people!!! May Day is Friday, and when I was in high school, this was a BIG day. We called it May Fete, all the senior girls practiced and practiced wrapping the May Pole over-under-over-under and we looked so good in our long spring formals and high heels out on the grass trying not to stick those darned heels into the dirt and grass and destroy the over-under-over-under timing as we wrapped the pole. And then the dance in the gym followed. Ah, those were the days issuing in spring. And soon would be Prom, graduation and summer freedom. Those are all the highlights I remember, but the memories are warm and fuzzy still. Now, we remember Mother’s Day (May 10 this year), and Memorial Day (May 25), and May Day is a fond memory, and I don’t even know what May Fete means or celebrates, exactly. Then again, I don’t wear formals or heels any more, either! | | Click on the Picture for more Information | | More to the point of that rather pointless memory is to remind you that Sew Sisters class is Wednesday with Marilyn, and Andi is here Sunday from noon-3 with longarm techniques where the focus will be “fillers”. Muscle Memory Recall is so important in longarming, and you will be hands on at our machines for this class. Next: come take a look at the various quilted jackets Cora has made, as samples for her upcoming class May 18 and 19! There is some prep work for you to do before this class begins, so sign up ASAP and get your Supply list that you can be working on! | | While it’s on my mind, please SAVE THE DATE of June 13!!! It’s our annual anniversary party, and this year it’s our SWEET 16 PARTY! How about that, and ” who’d a thunk it” 16 years ago?!?! It doesn’t feel like that long ago, and sometimes it feels like I’ve never done anything else my whole life. Please plan to share some of the day with us, take home some goodies, shop the great store-wide sales, have some cake, think about all the changes that have happened over the past 16 years. I remember when I was the newbie in our Maricopa area Shop Hop, and now I’m the member who has been there the longest! And I’ve already decided on our demo item for this shop hop ( October 9-17 this year), and I think you’re gonna like it! | | Click on the Picture for more Information | | The new batik fabric line has started to arrive, and I think you’re gonna love that, too! It’s new, fresh, beautiful and soft, the first of its kind I’m told. We have BATIK SOLIDS for you. Because they are solids, not tone on tone or designed with chops, there is no wax resist used on the fabrics. The colors are pure, saturated and wonderful. Mix them with your quilting cottons, or make a total batik quilt…your choice. For any paper piecing you’re doing, there is no better fabric in my opinion, and sometimes your design just requires a stand-out solid. We have more colors coming soon. Also just in are some tone-on-tone pastel light weight flannels, perfect for those soft-backed baby quilts or bibs and such! And of course, we have Tula, Tula, Tula. | | All Janome, BERNINA and Grace specials for April will be gone soon, so if you’ve been thinking about something from the serger and/or machine lines, come talk with us. Thank you for keeping Zoltan busy in the back with maintaining and repairing machines…he’s happy when he’s busy, and with our guarantee to get them back to you in 7-10 business days (providing we don’t have to order parts!), you’ve managed to keep him very happy! Then again, he can always be more busy and even happier, right?!?! | | For our special of the week, let’s make it May Flowers at 20% off! We have lots of new florals for you to consider, and at 20% off, you can make your own Mother’s Day Bouquet! Just give us the code of : 20FLOWERS to get the discount in shop or online (www.sunvalleyquilts.com). Have a healthy and happy week, and stop in for a visit or two and check out all the specials just for you! | | Barbara and the May Flowers (as opposed to the Mayflower) at SVQ | | | | |
