FLY Updates: October 2024

We are so excited to get back together! Each year students are required to fill out a Medical Release and Registration form - this is needed in order to participate in our trips. Please fill this out as soon as possible! Here's the link to the form: Youth Ministry Registration, Medical Release, and Yearly Permission Form.

Important Dates!

We have A LOT in store for the year ahead! Attached is a list of important dates throughout the year, including our mission trip dates. Students will get a physical copy of this list when we begin meeting in September. Here's the list of dates: FLY Important Dates.

Sept. 25 - FLY Night - Mission and Service Trip Announcement for Parents and Students for the first 30 minutes / Service and Faith in Action

Our FLY Night for September 25 is going to look a little bit different! For the first 30 minutes, we invite parents and students to learn more about our Winter Retreat and the trips we're going on this summer. We'll reveal where we're going and all the information you need to know about the trip. This portion is for parents AND students.

After the Mission and Service Trip Announcement, we'll play some games and talk about how God calls us to serve others.

Sept. 29 - FLY Forum - FLY Room Paint Session

We're starting our FLY Room make over with some paint! Come in paint clothes ready to help!

Oct. 2 - FLY Night - Serving Others

Join us as we discuss serving others and how it connects with our faith.

Oct. 6 - FLY Forum - Acolyte Training

Acolytes help during our worship services with communion. 5th/6th graders, Confirmation, and FLY students help with this role throughout the school year. On October 2, we'll be learning what it means to be an acolyte - FLY students will help lead the training stations.

Oct. 9 - FLY Night - Being Busy

Students are super busy! Let's talk about how we manage being busy and how our faith connects with those things.

Oct. 13 - NO FLY FORUM - Enjoy your long weekend!

All education activities are off this Sunday.

Oct. 16 - FLY Night - Game Night hosted by our Student Leaders

We'll be at Church playing games together!

Oct. 20 - FLY Forum - Paint the FLY Room

We're going to continue painting the FLY room - please bring appropriate clothes.

Oct. 23 - FLY Night - Topic TBD

Oct. 27 - FLY Forum - Paint the FLY Room

We're hoping to finish up painting the FLY Room this Sunday!

Oct. 27 - Trunk or Treat - 4 to 5p

Trunk or Treat is an event for our families where people come in costumes, trick or treat from cars, play games, eat snacks, and enjoy the fellowship of our church! FLY students are invited to help run stations or to bring their car to participate. If you're interested in helping, let Kayla know! It's a fun way to earn a few NHS hours!! We'll be outside; if it rains we'll be in Luther Hall.

Oct. 30 - FLY Night - Magic / Wizardry and the Bible

On the eve of Halloween, join us as we talk about magic in the Bible!

Nov. 3 - FLY Forum - Glen Ellyn Food Pantry Service Project with 5th/6th graders and Confirmation Students

On November 3, we'll be doing a Service Project with FLY, Confirmation and Studio 56! We'll be hanging donation flyers for the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry around the neighborhood. Come prepared to be outside!
