Family medicine was once again showcased at the Florida Medical Association’s (FMA) 2026 House of Delegates and Annual Meeting held July 31-August 2 in Orlando. The highlight was undoubtably the inauguration of Alma Littles, MD, as the 150th president of the FMA. “While assuming this role is one of the greatest honors of my professional career, I am humbled by the opportunity and mindful of the responsibility,” Littles said. “I see this role as an opportunity to serve — not only physicians — but also the patients and communities who depend on us." Dr. Littles (FAFP President ’99) is the first family physician to serve as the FMA President since Dr. Terence “Terry” McCoy in 2000.
FAFP Foundation Vice President, Michael Cromer, MD, was also honored by being awarded the Harold S. Strasser, MD, Good Samaritan Award for his remarkable efforts to provide medical care to the underserved in the greater Hillsborough County area. Lastly, FAFP member, Rebekah Bernard, MD, was re-elected as FMA Treasurer.
