Christian Education Conference Held
The Christian Education Department held a leadership development workshop on Saturday, February 23. Pastor Brown was the speaker and he urged attendees to mirror this year’s theme- “Reaching Higher.” The focus scripture for the workshop was Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, do work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
Ministry leaders and prospective ministry leaders were challenged to work as a team and be one accord, F.O.C.U.S.E.D. (Faithful, Obedient, Christ-like, Unified, Servants, Excellence, Disciples) for the cause of Christ. To have the abundance of blessings that God has planned for us, it will require leaders that are intentionally
F
aithful to their assignment;
O
bedient to the Word and will of God;
C
hrist-like in their conduct;
U
nified with the remaining body of Christ;
S
ervants that are willing to work without hesitation;
E
xcellence in all our presentations as leaders; and
D
isciples of Christ whom others can model in their own personal walk with the Lord.
Furthermore, Pastor Brown also stated potential leaders must be F.A.T. (faithful, available and trainable).
F
aithful leaders must be committed to the cause in which the leader serves.
A
vailable leaders can’t be too busy for the accepted task.
T
rainable leaders must always seek out new ways to enhance the ministry and not shy away from spiritual advice and teachings.
In addition to discussing the requirements of leadership, Brown shared the benefits of being a financially strong church, the importance of strategic planning and the importance of preparation for Biblical Interpretation and delivery of the word as well as tips for revitalizing the Christian Educator.
