The FMBK Team Celebrates Our December Milestone:

Cara Boroda- 2 Year Anniversary Practicing Family Law at FMBK

"My family law career trajectory took me right back to where I started in the Summer of 2009 as a 2L FMBK Summer Associate. My decision to return to FMBK two years ago was serendipitous. I am extremely grateful to work at a firm that supports both our client’s family’s trials and tribulations, as well as the families of our fellow attorneys and staff at the firm. As a working mom of three little ones, including one-year old twins, FMBK has provided me with the most incredible opportunity to continue to develop my skills as a lawyer, receive invaluable mentorship from our skilled team of lawyers, and still be there for my children at such a formative stage in their lives. FMBK truly practices what it preaches when it comes to family.

Being a part of a firm that is understanding, compassionate and supportive provides me with the ability to be there for my clients and my family in a way that I didn’t think was possible for a working parent.

It is an honor to serve our clients and their families, and to be a part of such a supportive firm that values the notion of family above all else."

Upcoming AAML National Webinar!

Unveiling the Unconscious: Exploring Implicit Bias in Expert Cross

January 24, 2024 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

This webinar is offered by the Race, Ethnic and Religious Considerations in Family Law Committee. It will focus on the art of conducting a cross-examination of an expert witness, with a particular focus on identifying areas of bias.

Discover how to develop targeted questions that expose potential bias and that challenge the expert’s credibility. We will share practical tips to structure your questions to elicit valuable information while maintaining control of the examination. Most helpful in the webinar will be insight offered by a member of the judiciary on what is important to the court in looking at bias as well as information from a seasoned custody evaluator on how to avoid the pitfalls of personal and cognitive biases. This is a must attend event for the family lawyer who wishes to learn how to effectively present evidence of bias to the court, including through expert testimony, cross-examination, and supporting documents.
