#1 Patience: In my office, I am often referred to as the “hand holder.” Family law clients are embroiled in some of the hardest, most emotional times of their life. I listen intently, show kindness and hold the space for them to get through this difficult time.
#2 Resourcefulness: Overcoming adversity is one of my magical gifts. At the beginning of the Covid 19 Pandemic when all of the courts were closed and the nation was in lockdown, many struggled to adapt to the “new normal." Meanwhile, I hit the ground running and quickly adapted to video conferencing. Via zoom, I was meeting clients, taking depositions and even making court appearances. “No Courtroom? No problem.” Even in lockdown, I won a two-week trial for my client, all via Zoom.
#3 Perseverance: In one highly litigated case, we needed an expert witness regarding a nuanced issue to assist in proving an element of our case. I contacted over eight expert witnesses who were all unable to provide the requisite testimony. Nevertheless, it was the ninth expert I called that ensured we would prevail in court.
#4 Creativity: An opposing party was lying to the court. Through creative and congruently legal measures, we were able to gather evidence which proved the opposing party’s deceit. Obtaining this smoking gun allowed us to move the case toward a prolific settlement, making our client very happy.
