Dear Franklin-McKinley community,
In line with our commitment to keep you informed about the District's key developments shaping our economic outlook, we want to share information about an upcoming bond measure ballot.
The Franklin-McKinley School District Board of Trustees has approved placing a bond measure on the June 2, 2026 ballot. If approved by voters, the measure would authorize the issuance of $142 million in bonds to build, maintain, repair, and modernize school classrooms and office spaces throughout the District.
In 2020, voters approved Bond Measure R, which authorized $80 million in facilities funding. The District anticipates that those funds will be fully expended by June 2027.
If the 2026 measure is approved, outstanding bonds are projected to cost approximately $30 per $100,000 of assessed value (not market value). The bond program and its expenditures would be subject to annual independent financial audits to ensure compliance with California Proposition 39 and other applicable state regulations. An independent citizens’ oversight committee would also be established as required by law.
All funds generated by the measure would remain within the District.
Voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballots on June 2, 2026.
Sincerely,
Juan Cruz
Superintendent
