Meet the Farmer Behind Your Food!

Ever wonder who’s behind the food on your plate? This year at FNCE, we're bringing the farmer straight to you!

Stop by our booth and meet Bruce Rominger, a multigenerational California farmer who helps grow the food that feeds America. Bruce will be there to answer your questions about farming, sustainability, growing tomatoes, and what it really takes to get food from the field to your table.

Bring your questions, meet a real farmer, and let's connect RDs to agriculture!

Tomato Paste for Your Brain?

A new Food & Wine article is highlighting some exciting research on tomato paste and brain health. In a recent study, researchers looked at what happened when adults consumed about two tablespoons of tomato paste daily for three months. The results? Improvements in attention and processing speed, along with changes in brain activity suggesting more efficient neural connections.

The secret ingredient may be lycopene, the powerful antioxidant found in tomatoes, particularly concentrated in cooked and processed tomato products.

While more research is needed, it's another exciting reminder that some of the most interesting nutrition benefits might already be sitting in your pantry!

Introducing Field to Sealed™

We've got something new cooking!

This week, at the Pizza Expo in Columbus, Ohio, we officially launched Field to Sealed™, a new campaign celebrating the farmers who grow our tomatoes and the chefs who turn them into something incredible.

The idea is simple: Know who's growing your food. Know where it comes from. And take pride in your ingredients.

We're starting in the fields, introducing the people and families behind the harvest, showing how tomatoes move from the farm to the cannery, and connecting those stories with some of the country's most respected chefs and pizza makers.

Chief Tomato Evangelist Alec Wasson interviews Brooklyn pizza icon Paulie Gee at the Pizza Expo.

Imported tomatoes have long enjoyed the spotlight on restaurant menus, perhaps because their origins sound a little more exotic. But the tomatoes grown right here have an equally compelling story—and the quality to back it up.

In an interview at the recent Pizza Expo, pizza expert Scott Wiener of Scott's Pizza Tours made the bold claim that in a blind taste test, you would choose California tomatoes over Italian tomatoes 10 times out of 10. Add to that the confidence of knowing who's growing your food, where it comes from, and the environmental benefit of avoiding the global footprint of shipping ingredients halfway around the world.

We want to see chefs proudly talking about the tomatoes they choose, the farmers behind them, and why those ingredients deserve to be highlighted on their menus. Because great tomatoes don't have to come from far away to have a story worth telling.

This is a new chapter alongside our longstanding Tomato Wellness work. We'll continue championing the health benefits of tomato products while shining a light on the growers, the process, and the chefs who bring these ingredients to life.

Stay tuned for farmer stories, chef interviews, and plenty more from Field to Sealed™!

In this first teaser video you'll even notice a double whammy Registered Dietitian/Tomato Grower powerhouse you may recognize!
