Thank you, families, if you’ve already taken the annual District-Wide Survey! We know this year has been challenging, and we appreciate your time.

If you haven’t yet, please take ten minutes to speak up as your child’s biggest champion. Your survey responses are confidential. School officials will not know who completed a survey or how you responded. The survey is available in 10 languages.

Applications Now Open for Senior Year Only Program (S.Y.O.P.)!
The Senior Year Only Program seeks to prepare high school seniors for both college AND career by connecting classroom learning with real-world applications in the workplace. Students enrolled in S.Y.O.P. either take classes on a college campus, spend time at the Fox Chase Farm earning industry certifications in urban agriculture, or get hands-on experience with Comcast. The Senior Year Only Program is a full school year commitment and is designed for 2021-2022 high school seniors who are on track to graduate. The application deadline for S.Y.O.P. is April 30, 2021!
The April 2021 Edition of The Mind Report is Now Available!
The Mind Report is a monthly newsletter from the Promoting Adolescent Student Health (PASH) Program that aims to strengthen caregivers mentally, emotionally, and relationally. April's theme is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This issue will cover some difficult topics, so please take care when reading. If you or someone you know needs help, see page 7 and 8 of the newsletter for resources
In Case You Missed It: Discussing the Rights of LGBTQ Students on the iHeart Media Philadelphia Community Podcast
Rachel Holzman, Deputy Chief of the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, and Brittany Broaddus-Smith, Program Manager of PASH were recently featured on the iHeart Media Philadelphia Community Podcast. Listen as they discuss programs and initiatives in place specifically for LGBTQ students to ensure safety, equity, and justice for all students regardless of gender identity or gender expression.
Provide Your Input on English as a Second Language and Bilingual Education Programs
Save the Date! You are invited to a VIRTUAL meeting to tell us what you think about the School District of Philadelphia's English as a Second Language and Bilingual Education programs. Meetings will be held on:

Register Your Child for Kindergarten Today!
Kindergarten registration for the 2021-2022 school year is now open. If you have a child who will be five years old on or before September 1st, please register them by May 28th, 2021 to give them an opportunity to Thrive at Five!

Listening Ears and Productive Strategies at Strawberry Mansion High School
This month and next month we are featuring a 2-part story on family engagement at Strawberry Mansion High School in North Philadelphia! Through this past year that all of us have had to stay physically isolated, Strawberry Mansion has gone above and beyond to increase engagement with families and students to keep interaction with one another high and to make everyone feel less separated.
April 2021 SAC Tip of the Month: The Basics of SAC Elections
In these final few months of the school year, School Advisory Councils (SACs) across different schools are doing the work of wrapping up existing projects as well as beginning to prepare for next school year. One of the ways to get a good start on next year’s SAC for your school is by setting up a SAC election. Brush up on your knowledge and find resources for further assistance!
