FODAC Helps a Holocaust Survivor
Last month, FODAC brought comfort and care to a 90-year old client from the Ukraine who is a holocaust survivor. His health has been failing rapidly in the last three months, especially after he lost his wife to a stroke in June. Emily Papera, a case manager with Jewish Family & Career Services of Atlanta, thanked FODAC and talked about how the hospital bed from FODAC had helped her client.
For years the Jewish Family & Career Services of Atlanta (JF&CS) has referred clients to FODAC, but the strength of that relationship shone through last week when we were in dire need of an automatic medical bed to help this client. According to the family, it would have taken 2 months before a bed could be obtained through Medicaid. We were overjoyed to receive such prompt service from FODAC. The hospital bed was obtained within 4 hours of our initial call! Thank you to the FODAC staff who worked so quickly with our case manager to coordinate and procure the bed in record time so that the family could provide immediate comfort to their loved one during this difficult time.

Thanking our volunteers by keeping them safe
This week, to thank our volunteers for their donation of time, FODAC gave away complimentary five-packs of washable cloth masks, courtesy of a donation from our partners at FEMA. FODAC Volunteer Coordinator David Carroll handed out masks to cars at our front drive-thru entrance under the awning, ensuring a touchless event.

FODAC depends heavily on its many volunteers - last year, our 1,559 volunteers contributed 16,339 hours valued at $415,500!
