The FOGC Scholarship Program began 16 years ago through the generous support of parents and GWC’s Rick Kral and has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships. This year, through increased community outreach and partnership with AVID and the Boys & Girls Club, FOGC expects to award more than $34,000, nearly $1,600 per scholarship. To join us in financial support and to learn about our Scholarship Finance Committee, please reach out to Heidi Andersen, President FOGC.
Corporate matching is welcome and all donations are fully tax-deductible.

FOCUS on the
VARSITY COXSWAINS
As the coxswains of Greenwich Crew, we find coxing a fun way to express our creativity through motivation.... The main role of the coxswain is to steer the racing shell while also providing motivation for the rowers and acting as the “brains of the boat” in high-pressure situations. We enjoy seeing how our calls affect our crews in races and practices. It is also fun to come up with new ways to provide motivation, whether that means executing new calls or even changing the tone of our voices.
NUTRITION FOR OUR ATHLETES
FOGC and GC recently hosted Koren Bradshaw, MS, CLC, a nutritionist with Performance Optimal Health, who presented an informative webinar via Zoom.

Koren shared some general dietary guidelines tailored to high school athletes. This is not a strict prescription by any means, but some helpful suggestions if you ever find yourself wondering what to buy, cook or eat. She is available by e-mail or appointment if you have more specific questions.

If parents and athletes missed her presentation, or would like to re-watch it, the recording may be viewed here:  Zoom Recording

A useful summary of her key points, can be found on the link below.
