will take place on November 12th at 7:00 p.m.
The film, narrated by Grammy and Oscar-winning artist Common and directed by award-winning filmmaker and Olympic rower, Mary Mazio, chronicles the first African American high school rowing team in this country made up of young men, many of whom were in rival gangs in Chicago, who came together to row in one boat. Critics have declared, "It might start and seem like a story about rowing but it's really about that thing that we all require at one time or another: resilience. The resilience to go against peer pressure, to not be weighed down by unimaginable tragedies, to reach out to build bridges to a better tomorrow, and to never give up."
