Welcome to Greenwich Crew’s Fall 2021 season!
We hope you had a restful summer and are as excited as we are to get back out on the water! 

The boat house has already been busy with athletes popping in to train, coaches getting equipment ready for the new season, and parents reconnecting in the parking lot. 
After an incredibly successful spring and summer racing season with Youth Nationals, Summer National Championships, and the Masters National Championships, you’ll see that the fall is a time to re-group, build upon strengths, and look for opportunities to grow. As we know, our athletes are certainly in great hands with our talented coaches and have a strong team culture to support that growth. 

There is another key contributor to that growth and a big part of what makes our team so special, and that is you, our parents! As a parent, you are an integral part of the youth sport system. Yes, you are a driver, filler of the fridge, sponsor, and often serve as an emotional support system. But you are more than that. You help us to build a sense of community, serve as role models to your athlete, and help your athlete to value the process over the outcome. Your engagement allows our athletes to thrive in unexpected ways.

As we kick off the fall season, I not only want to extend a warm welcome to our new families, but also encourage each and every parent to get involved in a way that is meaningful to you. FOGC is a wonderful venue for newcomers to learn about the sport of rowing, develop new friendships, and of course support our athletes and coaches.
I look forward to sharing this experience with you all!

MEET THE FOGC BOARD
The Friends of Greenwich Crew (FOGC) is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to enrich the student-athlete’s team experience by providing a supportive environment through the involvement of parents and other members of the community. FOGC is led by a Board of 10 parent volunteers who coordinate various efforts to provide off-the-water regatta support for athletes, organize fundraising events, and work with community partners to increase access to the sport of rowing. FOGC also works with its parents to actively provide scholarships to qualifying athletes regardless of background or ability.

September 18th: CRI Fall Classic in Boston.
October 9th: Head of the Housatonic in Indian Wells State Park, CT.
October 22-24th: Head of the Charles (select varsity crews only) in Boston.
October 31st: Head of the Fish in Saratoga Springs, NY
November 5th: Fall season ends.
November 29th: Winter season begins.
February 16-22, 2022: Florida Training Trip: (select varsity athletes only)
May or June, 2022:(Official date coming soon) Greenwich Crew Banquet. End of the year celebration for athletes and parents. Hyatt Hotel, Riverside, CT

WELCOME TO Nicole Chaloux
A native of Newtown, CT, Nicole began rowing in high school with GMS Rowing Center in New Milford, CT. Upon graduation, Nicole attended a small university for two years before transferring to the University of Connecticut and walking on to their Division I rowing team. She spent three years as a varsity athlete on the team, racing at regattas such as Head of the Charles, Knecht Cup, and Eastern Sprints. Nicole graduated with a degree in Biology and a minor in Sports Nutrition. 
Nicole began her coaching career with Norwalk River Rowing in Norwalk, CT where she contributed to building a program from the ground up. She led the girls team to success at the 2021 Northeast Regionals with the top 3 times in the Novice double category.
Nicole joined the coaching team at Greenwich Crew in the summer of 2021 as an assistant coach on the women's team, working with both the novice and varsity women. 
DID YOU KNOW? ....
Each season Greenwich Crew asks parents to pay a food fee as a part of registration. This fee is the only fee that goes directly to FOGC and it covers so much more than just food! We use this fee to cover nutritional and hydration support at regattas, trailer insurance, D&O insurance, new tents, auxiliary needs for regatta support, and so much more. Thank you for supporting the FOGC!! We couldn’t do it without you!!
