Friends of the BARLD
The Friends of the Library Board is already gearing up for our Holiday in the library's new meeting rooms. This year will have a Holiday Market in conjunction with the Tea on Thursday, December 5 from 4-7 PM. The Holiday Market will be a Silent Auction with 25-30 gift baskets and all types of artwork and craft items which will be perfect gifts for anyone on your holiday list!

To assist in this effort, you may contribute in several ways. First, we will start collecting empty baskets, gift boxes/tins, or other decorative containers to fill. You can bring the empty baskets/containers to the FOL office from July 15 through August 31, 2019. Second (after we determine how many baskets we have), we will send out an eblast in September through SignUp Genius with more information on filling the baskets with donated items. If you would like to design, fill and decorate your own basket, that will be great. You can donate a completed gift basket any time after September.

Here are a few of our ideas for gift basket thems, please help us with more!

Use your imagination and assist us in making the Holiday Market a success. Of course, we will be seeking volunteers to decorate the Holiday Market and Holiday Tea tables, as well as provide delicious sweets and savories for our library patrons to enjoy.
The Kitchen Shower was a huge success and an enjoyable afternoon of fun and fellowship. Thanks to the generous members of the Friends we have made a great leap ahead in furnishing our kitchen. A special thank you to Debbie Neubauer and Donna Harris for creating the Kitchen Shower registry and organizing the event. If you have a gift but did not make it to the shower, just bring it to the FOL office. If you missed a chance to donate, we can always use a gift card or cash to finish buying items for the kitchen. Just turn in at the circulation desk or the FOL office.

The Friends Board has found it necessary to make a clarification in the Bylaws. We would like to revise Article IV, Section 5 , line 1 of the Bylaws. The current wording is “A majority plus one of the directors shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.” We would like to modify this to read “A simple majority of the directors shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.” An email from the Friends will be sent out soon and you may vote electronically.
The Veteran’s Day Committee will meet Friday July 19 at 11 AM
If you would like to join the Committee, please email Clare at folpresident@bsblibrary.org .
