Organizational Session was held Tuesday, November 22, 2022. Committee Chairs were appointed, and Senator Kathleen Passidomo and Representative Paul Renner officially assumed their leadership roles as Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives. On the other side of the aisle, Senator Lauren Book and Representative Fentrice Driskell were named Senate and House Minority Leaders. Subcommittee Chairs will be named at a later date.
Interim committees will officially begin the week of December 12, 2022, and run intermittently to February 24, 2023. In total, there are seven weeks of meetings scheduled in the buildup toward the 2023 Legislative Session, which will begin March 7, 2023.
The Special Session on property insurance will start on December 12, 2022, in conjunction with the first week of interim committees. The Special session will address property tax obligations and provide economic relief for Southwest Florida residents. Additionally, the Special Session will address solutions to stabilize Florida's property insurance market that will introduce more competition and policies that will lower prices for consumers.
