Teamwork makes the dream work

Thanks to 2023 funding, we were able to hire a full team this summer. Our dedicated team demonstrated agility in action working hand in hand with volunteers and community partners to as we piloted new things this summer. Thank you Anne Marie, Julie, Lizzie, Ray, Becca, Chris, Jacqui, Jo, Katherine, Kisten, Matt, and Morgan for making an incredible impact on our community!

157 volunteers (37 new) invested 1,047+ hours preparing meals, packing them up, driving 7,500+ miles them to our sites, hosting our Grab & Go at CHS and promotional events, and taking away our recycling. An incredibly generous group!

Two deserve a special shout out ... cheers to:

Lynn Cropper who logged 38+ hours in the kitchen, including stressful hot meal days!
Russ Karber whose stalwart support of F4K we depend on the start and end of every season.

Hunger and poverty are driven by economic and social hardships - including insufficient wages, lack of affordable housing, inadequate health care, and more - and by systemic discrimination.

These factors ... are complex and interdependent. They must be addressed if our nation is to end hunger.

Together we can do more

At Food 4 Kids, we embrace the spirit of adaptability as we tackle the challenges of food insecurity. Our focus next summer will be on reaching local children who haven't been able to access our services due to not attending rec programs, lack of transportation, etc. In addition, we will look to increase our focus on literary through fun event programming at the sites.

To reach these goals, we aim to partner more closely with local human services organizations and our community partners to raise awareness and target our efforts.
