Town of Yucca Valley Election Update
In preparation for the upcoming November 8, 2022 general election, Yucca Valley Town Clerk, Lesley Copeland announces the Town Council candidates. After conducting a nomination period in accordance with the California Elections Code, the following have declared and qualified their candidacy: Jim Schooler, District 1, Merl R. Abel, District 3, and Rick Denison, District 5. Each of the candidates are seeking re-election to the Town Council for a four-year term in their respective district.
Also on the November 8, 2022 ballot, local voters will have the opportunity to express their vote on a local revenue measure (Measure K) to amend the Town’s local Transient Occupancy Tax (Hotel/Short-Term Vacation Rental Tax). After careful consideration, the measure was placed on the ballot to address the additional burden on services provided by the Town of Yucca Valley due to an increase in short-term vacation rentals and tourism visitation.
