Yucca Valley Prioritizes Town Beautification by Addressing Issues with

Abandoned Shopping Carts

In response to an increased number of abandoned shopping carts from commercial properties, the Town has entered into a partnership with Cart Retrieval, Inc. to return shopping carts to stores after they are removed from store property.

Shopping carts removed without authorization often end up abandoned on roadways, in vacant lots or scattered around neighborhoods. Not only do these carts cause blight, but also pose safety issues to the public.

“The council has heard concerns from residents on this issue and we are taking action to maintain our outdoor spaces,” said Mayor Jim Schooler. “It is our hope that through efforts such as these, the beauty of Yucca Valley can be appreciated for years to come.”

The Town has been in communication with local stores to enforce their own shopping cart abatement program, as required by Town ordinance.

To report an abandoned shopping cart for retrieval, please visit www.cartpickup.com and complete the online form.
