Former California State Attorney General, State Treasurer, and California Senate President Pro Tempore Bill Lockyer Endorses Suzie Price For Mayor

Long Beach, CA  Today, Former California State Attorney General, State Treasurer, and California Senate President Pro Tempore Bill Lockyer announced his endorsement of Suzie Price For Mayor for Long Beach City Mayor. 


The endorsement comes on the heels of Price raising $300,000 in four weeks and receiving endorsements from Long Beach Unified School District Board Member Doug Otto, Long Beach Councilmembers Daryl Supernaw and Stacy Mungo, Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell, and Senator Tom Umberg among others. 


“I’m voting for Suzie Price,” says Lockyer. “She’s smart, hard-working, accessible and devoted to making Long Beach better. I’m especially impressed with her commitment to helping victims of crime and to effective crime prevention. Suzie has represented her district in an effective, “non-political” way. She’ll serve the entire city that way, too.”


Bill Lockyer is a nationally-admired California lawmaker and executive leader, best known as one of the most influential attorneys general in California history. He was selected as the President of the National Association of Attorneys General, and led numerous national initiatives and joint enforcement efforts during his eight-year term. Lockyer also served eight years as Treasurer of California. In 2010, he was reelected with more votes than any other state-wide candidate in history in the nation's most populous state. From 1973 to 1978, he served in both branches of the California State Legislature and was elected by his fellow senators as President Pro Tempore of the Senate, the highest-ranking legislative position in California. Lockyer is currently of counsel in Brown Rudnick's Government Law & Strategies Practice Group.

Mom, Councilwoman, Small Business Owner, and Deputy District Attorney, Suzie Price is running for Mayor to get Long Beach back to basics, with a competent and functional City Government focused on improving the quality of life for its residents. Elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2018, Price was the first Democrat elected to Council District 3 in 42 years. On the City Council, Suzie has worked across district lines to focus on homelessness, public safety, street repair, infrastructure investment, improving and expanding our green spaces, and ensuring Long Beach remains a place where you can afford to buy a home and start a business. Suzie and her husband Mark, a military veteran, have lived in Long Beach for 20 years where they are raising their two boys.
