Long Beach, CA  Today, Don Knabe, a former member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, announced his endorsement of City Councilwoman Suzie Price for Long Beach City Mayor.

The endorsement comes on the heels of Price earning the endorsements of the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 47, California State Controller Betty Yee, State Senator Tom Umberg, and Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell. Price recently reported raising $400,000 in just twelve weeks, highlighting the strength and enthusiasm in her broad coalition of support.

“I am honored and proud to endorse Suzie Price for Mayor of Long Beach,” says Knabe. “Suzie does not lead from a place of partisanship, political ideology, or personal agenda. She leads from a place of honesty, transparency, and common sense. She does what is right by meeting with anyone who requests to meet with her, listening to all sides, and balancing each issue that comes before her. She is hard-working and has dedicated her life to serving the public. She’s not looking to climb a political ladder — she’s had a full career outside of politics. Her commitment to Long Beach and its residents is for the right reasons. Long Beach needs a Mayor with eyes on Long Beach. Suzie Price is that Mayor.”

Supervisor Don Knabe was first elected to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in November of 1996 and was overwhelmingly re-elected in 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012. Supervisor Knabe represented the Fourth District, including over two million residents and two of the nation’s largest economic hubs: the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and Los Angeles International Airport. Supervisor Knabe is a leader in regional transportation, currently serving as a Director for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and as a member of the Southern California Regional Rail Authority (Metrolink), where he sits on the Executive Management and Audit Committee. He was elected to the Cerritos City Council in 1980 and served as a Councilman for eight years, including two terms as Mayor, where he responded to the Cerritos Air Crash in 1986. Supervisor Knabe and his wife, Julie, have been married for 48 years. Julie, a Long Beach native, is a past President of the Cerritos Chamber of Commerce. They have two married sons, and four incredible grandchildren.

“Don Knabe is my ultimate political role model,” says Price. “The reason I respect him so much is because he is the most non-political politician I’ve ever met. He is charismatic, kind, and compassionate. The legacy of his leadership on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will last for generations to come. It was my honor to serve with him on the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority and I appreciate that the relationship we built on this dias was one founded in respect and collaboration. I’m honored to have his support.”
