FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Joint Task Force Provides Recommendation for Future Development of Lynnwood Convention Center Location
LYNNWOOD, WA (Monday, June 10, 2019) – The City of Lynnwood and the Lynnwood Public Facilities District (PFD) jointly selected a Task Force to explore future ideas for the property owned by the PFD. The Task Force was comprised of local community members with knowledge and interest in the future growth and development of the PFD and Lynnwood City Center. Task Force members met with facilitator Andrew Ballard of Marketing Solutions during six visioning sessions before presenting four property development ideas. The top-ranked recommendation from the Task Force is that the PFD build an Exhibition Hall and Flex-Space that would enhance visitor experience and provide for opportunities such as musical performances, trade shows, cultural performances, and more.

“The City created the Public Facilities District 20 years ago to build and successfully operate the Lynnwood Convention Center,” stated Mayor Nicola Smith. “The Lynnwood Convention Center continues to be an important piece of our city’s economic and community vibrancy, and this Task Force report begins the exciting process of planning for future opportunities for the PFD and our community.”.

“The PFD thanks the Task Force for its innovative ideas,” said Board Chair George Sherwin. “Our region is changing rapidly and the PFD should participate in this growth and change by further developing its property.”

Members of the Task Force included: Susan Hempstead, Yun Hong, Linda Jones, Steve McGraw, Mary Monroe, Paul Richards, Shawn Walker, Diana White, Andy Williams, Max Wilson, Beth Woolley and Carl Zapora. The Task Force’s work was facilitated by Andrew Ballard of Marketing Solutions. The full Task Force Recommendation Report can be viewed by visiting the Lynnwood Public Facilities District Website
