Long Beach, CA  Today, Long Beach Community Leader Carmen O. Perez announced her endorsement of City Councilwoman Suzie Price for Long Beach City Mayor.

The endorsement comes on the heels of Price raising $170,000 in two weeks and receiving endorsements from Long Beach Unified School District Board Member Doug Otto, Long Beach Councilmembers Daryl Supernaw and Stacy Mungo, Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell, among others

“I am delighted to add my support to Councilwoman Suzie Price's campaign for Mayor of our great city,” says Perez. “We met years ago and formed a friendship of mutual respect. I have followed her leadership and commitment to her district as she has served as their council representative. I like her total commitment to her district and know she will do the same for the entire City of Long beach. Her self-made determination, her bootstrap mentality, her never quit attitude, her diligence to focus on details, and her outstanding work ethic will serve all Long Beach citizens! What is most important to me is her strong support of our law enforcement, our police, and all first responders. This has been demonstrated in her actions at the City Council level. Suzie Price is ready to be a great Mayor for us all!”

Carmen O. Perez is a Latina Community Organizer, known for her leadership in the greater Long Beach area, in the Los Angeles County region, the State of California, and nationally through her work in the Democratic Party, at Community Economic Development, and internationally as a Commissioner with the Port of Long Beach. Perez has served as the President of the California Democratic Party, the Vice President of the National Democratic Party, Chair of California Democratic Party Hispanic Caucus, and Co-chair of Credentials for National Conventions. She has also served as the Chief Deputy to LA County Supervisor Kenny Hahn, Hospital Administrator at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, and as a Long Beach Harbor Commissioner. She has received many awards including the Key to the City of Long Beach, Women Making History Award, and the JFK Political Award. Locally in Long Beach, she has served on the Board of Directors of Aquarium of the Pacific and the Long Beach Day Nursery. She currently serves as a Board Member of the Long Beach Public Library Foundation.

“Carmen O. Perez is a leader and mentor to so many women in this state,” says Price. "As Long Beach’s first Latina Harbor Commissioner, she laid the groundwork for so much progress in this City. Like me, Carmen was a busy mom when her kids were school-aged in Long Beach. She served on the PTA and long after her children had left the school system, she continued her service to the city in so many ways. She continues to help advance the need for inclusion, for the Latino community, as well as all minorities and people in the City of Long Beach. She has fought for the rights of people with disabilities, the underserved and women for her entire life. She is someone that I look up to in so many ways. I am honored beyond measure to have the support of this amazing, honorable and respected community leader.”

Mom, Councilwoman, Small Business Owner, and Prosecutor, Suzie Price is running for Mayor to get Long Beach back to basics, with a competent and functional City Government focused on improving the quality of life for its residents. On the City Council, Suzie has worked across district lines to focus on homelessness, public safety, street repair, infrastructure investment, improving and expanding our green spaces, and ensuring Long Beach remains a place where you can afford to buy a home and start a business.
