Long Beach, CA – Today, City Councilwoman Suzie Price received the first Democratic Club endorsement of the race for Long Beach City Mayor from the San Pedro Democratic Club.

The endorsement comes on the heels of Price being endorsed by the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 47, Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell, State Senator Tom Umberg, and California State Controller Betty Yee. Price recently reported raising $350,000 in just eight weeks, highlighting the strength and enthusiasm in her broad coalition of support.

“We are proud to endorse Councilwoman Suzie Price to be the next Mayor of Long Beach.” says Shannon Ross, President of the San Pedro Democratic Club. “Price understands the challenges facing the City of Long Beach as well as the City of San Pedro given our shared economic interests at the Port. She holds strong Democratic values, and will work to ensure everyday citizens have a voice in developing policies related to public safety, homelessness, and economic development. We are thrilled to support Councilwoman Price in her bid to become the next Mayor of Long Beach.”

San Pedro Democratic Club is a political and community action group serving the AD70 communities of San Pedro, Long Beach, and Signal Hill; the AD66 communities of Palos Verdes, Torrance, and Gardena; and the AD64 communities of Wilmington, Carson, and Compton. The club’s mission is to advance the goals of the Democratic platform through public policy and political issue analysis, education, fundraising, recruitment, coordination with other Democratic groups, and other activities. Their vision is to have full participation of the people of San Pedro and its environs in political discourse and understanding of our democratic system of government, thereby increasing Party registration and electing Democrats to every office at every level of government.

“Long Beach and San Pedro are closely connected due to our port complex,” says Price. “As the chair of the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority I have had the opportunity to serve with representatives from the Port of Los Angeles and the City of San Pedro and I have had a unique perspective on how our two cities are connected in our efforts to be the most competitive port complex in the world. The San Pedro Democratic Club embodies the Democratic values of inclusion, support for working families, and economic opportunities that are critical for our two cities to thrive as port towns. I am honored to have their endorsement.”
