Long Beach, CA – Today, the Long Beach Police Officers Association (LBPOA) announced their endorsement of City Councilwoman Suzie Price for Long Beach City Mayor. Along with being the Chair of the Public Safety Committee, Price is a career Assistant District Attorney working on behalf of women and crime victims. Price has worked to make our streets safer, while increasing accountability, by initiating the police body camera program for the Long Beach Police Department, investing in the police department and expanding the number of neighborhood watch programs.

“Suzie has dedicated her career as an Associate District Attorney to getting justice for victims and making communities safer,” says Rich Chambers, president of the Long Beach Police Officers Association. “As a Councilmember, Suzie has a proven track-record of being a leader who understands what’s at stake and is willing to stand up for the safety of our officers and our neighborhoods. The Long Beach Police Officers Association is proud to support Suzie Price for the next Mayor of Long Beach.”

The Long Beach Police Officers Association was established on June 24th, 1940, and proudly represents the 800 officers, sergeants, and lieutenants of the Long Beach Police Department. The Long Beach Police Officers Association was created to support our citizens through charitable donations and community outreach, negotiate salary, benefits, and working conditions of association members, promote legislation affecting the safety of police officers, and address department morale issues.

“As a law student, I helped a young rape victim get justice, finding my calling as an Assistant District Attorney,” says Price. “Now, after decades of advocating for those without a voice, I’m fighting to ensure that every Long Beach resident has a safe home and public spaces. I’m honored to have the endorsement of the women and men of Long Beach who work tirelessly every single day to ensure our public safety, and, as Mayor, I am committed to continuing to work alongside them to reimagine our police department with more patrol officers and social workers, while building public trust, embracing community policing, and advocating for accountability at the highest levels.”

The endorsement comes on the heels of Price earning the endorsements of the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 47, California State Controller Betty Yee, State Senator Tom Umberg, and Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell. Price recently reported raising $400,000 in just twelve weeks, highlighting the strength and enthusiasm in her broad coalition of support.
