Poetry of Resistance & Change
Monica Edwards Larson / Sister Black (Bike) Press’s  project Poetry of Resistance & Change consists of two parts: a temporary installation of letterpress printed poetry cards, and a Poetry reading and DIY printing event, using the mobile bicycle press, at the Soap Factory. The installation will consist of hundreds of letterpress printed poetry cards and broadsides featuring the work of local poets whose work bears witness to the many challenges facing our democracy, the health of our planet, and all aspects of human rights, that inspire action.

Join local poets for a readings and performances at the Soap Factory on  September 16th, from 7:30pm-10pm . Poets include: D. Allen, Michael Kleber-Diggs, Marion Gomez, Junauda Petrus, Maitreyi Ray, Hawona Sullivan-Janzen, and Ben Weaver.

Meet at Bryant Lake Bowl  (in adjacent alley) at 6pm  for group ride to The Soap Factory. The comfortably paced 6 mile route will follow the Midtown Greenway trail to Hiawatha LRT trail to 11th Ave to W. River pkwy and across the Stone Arch bridge…Food and beer trucks will be waiting!

About the Artist
Monica Edwards Larson is the proprietress of Sister Black Press – a private Letterpress and Book Arts studio, established in 2000 in Minneapolis, MN. She received a Masters in Fine Art in printmaking from Arizona State University. She has taught Printmaking, Graphic Design and Book Arts to students of all ages in the Twin Cities area, including the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, College of Visual Art, University of Northwestern and Minneapolis College of Art & Design. She is a 2017 recipient of the MN State Arts Board – Artist Initiative Grant, and recently started a new venture called Sister Black (Bike) Press – a mobile printing press that she pedals on the Twin Cities’ bike trails and streets, stopping to print at local bike shops, bookstores and libraries.
Lit Crawl
This project is a part of  Lit Crawl.  Lit Crawl MN boasts a roster of local authors, artists, and performers at 10+ different events that range from readings, improv, games, interactive story-building, and a hands-on workshop. A celebration of the vibrant literary scene in the Twin Cities, this lively crawl will have something for everyone. Lit Crawl Minneapolis is a project of Bartmann Group and the Litquake Foundation.
Here & There
Monica Larrson: Poetry of Resistance and Change is one of several public projects being presented by The Soap Factory as a part of Here & There. Here & There is  The Soap Factory's out-of-building programming during 2017 while the building undergoes renovation.  Here & There  includes a residency exchange program with Kultivera  in Trånas, Sweden and Rethinking Public Spaces, public p rojects that will take place directly outside of The Soap Factory and around the state of Minnesota including locations such as; Rochester, Willmar, and Brainerd.
