WICA MUSIC SERIES
AN EVENING OF SPANISH GUITAR
with CARLES PONS ALTES


LANGLEY, WA (May 14, 2019) - Whidbey Island Center for the Arts proudly presents an evening of Spanish Guitar music by Carles Pons Altés , Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 7:30 P.M.

Carles Pons Altés’ concert career has spanned nearly 20 years and taken him across Europe and to Asia and South and North America. In addition to playing in orchestras and making numerous international recordings, Altés serves as a jury member for competitions in Spain, Portugal, Peru, and Brazil.

CARLES PONS ALTÉS began his music studies in the city of Lleida with Mr. Jordi Montagut. Moving to Barcelona in 1986, he attended classes for the Higher Music Degree at the Municipal Higher Conservatoire while undertaking further guitar studies with Mr. Manuel González.

Carles has played with orchestras like Barcelona orchestra “Kamerart”, “Fundation Orchestra” of Irún, “Ensemble Instrumental du Léman” of Switzerland, “International Festival Orchestra of Nis (Serbia)”; he has played under such conductors as Jordi Colomer, Juan Jose Ocón, Frank Rodriguez-Freites. Bela Koteles and Michele Santorsola.

Join us for this evening of gorgeous and romantic Spanish Guitar music   by Carles Pons, one of Spain's most beloved and accomplished classical guitarists. This concert is made possible with help from Spain Arts & Culture for the WICA Music Series.
