Wyoming Humanities Center for the Book Announces Great Reads from Great Places Book Selections for 2025 National Book Festival
Wyoming - August 12, 2025 - Wyoming Center for the Book, a program of Wyoming Humanities, is pleased to announce our 2025 Great Reads from Great Places selections. Great Reads form Great Places is a nationwide program that features two books to represent each state at the National Book Festival in Washington, DC.
As the Library of Congress affiliate, Wyoming Center for the Book selects one adult book and one young adult/children’s book by committee that speaks to the state of Wyoming.
The 2025 Great Reads from Great Places, Wyoming Adult Selection is:
A Sometimes Paradise: Reflections on Life in a Wyoming Ranch Family
by Mark E. Miller.

The 2025 Great Reads from Great Places, Wyoming Youth Selection is:
A Home for Steamboat by Casey Rislov and illustrated by Zachary Pullen
“A Home for Steamboat is a story about a horse with an unbreakable spirit. Widely known as the symbol of Wyoming, the bucking bronco’s silhouette has been on the state’s license place since 1936. He was cared for as a foal by a loving family and then later sold to a wealthy ranch owner. The cowhands tried to break the young horse, but the born bucker had a mind of his own. Steamboat could not be Broke. He was sol again, this time to a man who felt a kinship with the horse’ strong will and independence. Steam had finally found his true home.”
