In my last two newsletters, I revealed how a registered agent of the Chinese Government has been involved in Arcadia politics.

Council Member Cao Linked To FBI Raids

Possibility of More Raids

I found that the FBI raids of the home and office of James Su, owner and CEO of EDI Media, Inc. a registered agent of the Chinese Government had ties to Arcadia Council Member Michael Cao, Mayor Paul Cheng and Former Mayor Sho Tay.

Some of you may have read a hit piece by Arcadia's Best targeting my statement that Former Mayor Sho Tay was the one that introduced James Su to the City of Arcadia in 2015.

Arcadia's Best is owned and operated by Former Mayor Sho Tay. He has an anonymous "staff writer" author the articles he puts out.

What you don't know, is that the City Manager Dominic Lazzaretto sent an email to Council trying to discredit me which was then shared with former Mayor Sho Tay and the basis of the hit piece against me.

It's ironic that City Manager Dominic Lazzaretto and Former Mayor Sho Tay would try to say that it was really Downtown Arcadia that brought EDI Media to Arcadia.

Sho Tay publicly took credit for bringing EDI Media to Arcadia in 2016 on his Facebook page:

Sho Tay was serving as the Council liaison to Downtown Arcadia in 2015, and he brought in EDI Media to the Downtown Arcadia Board and asked us to use EDI Media to hold a Lunar New Year. But it now seems that Downtown Arcadia was being used by Sho Tay to get EDI Media into Arcadia.

On the banner, just above the heads of (from left to right) Former Councilman Sho Tay, James Su of EDI Media and Former Councilman Roger Chandler is where it says "In Partnership with the City of Arcadia", not Downtown Arcadia.

And as you can see, I was not invited on stage to be a part of the ribbon cutting at that event. I was President of Downtown Arcadia in 2016. If Downtown Arcadia was the one holding the event, I would have been on stage at some point, but I wasn't, because EDI Media and Sho Tay wanted it to be a City of Arcadia sponsored event.

And in case anyone is questioning whether or not EDI Media was working for the Chinese Government in 2016 when this event was being held, on the banner was the logo of Xinmin Evening News as a Co-Organizer of the event (arrow pointing to it). The Xinmin Evening News is the Chinese Government run newspaper in China that was paying James Su $400,000 a year to re-print in the US the Chinese government's propaganda. It's why James Su had to register EDI Media as an agent of the Chinese government.

The pictures from the event tell a very different story than what the City Manager and Sho Tay now want to portray.

SANTA ANITA PARK'S PLANS TO REMOVE

34 OAK TREES FOR LA28 OLYMPICS

Last Thursday, Santa Anita Park hosted a community meeting regarding their proposal to remove 34 protected Oak trees in order to build out a cross country course for the Equestrian games of the LA28 Olympics.

Neither Mayor Pro Tem Fu nor Councilmember Cao attended this meeting.

They are the two Council members that fought with Council Member Kwan last year to be the Council representatives on the Olympics Ad Hoc Committee for the City of Arcadia. They have been attending meetings with Santa Anita Park for the last year in order to obtain information about the preparations for the Olympics. Fu and Cao most likely have known about this proposal to remove the Oak trees through those meetings and have done nothing about it.

Council Member Sharon Kwan tried to ask for the Oak tree removal to be on a future agenda for the City Council. She needed two other Council Members to support her in order to get it on the agenda. Only Council Member Han gave support. Because Cao, Fu and Cheng did not support it, she could not get it on a future Council agenda.

Council Member Kwan also asked that Council put on a future agenda the disclosure of any and all ties to the Chinese government in light of the ties Council Member Cao has to EDI Media, a registered agent of the Chinese government, and Mayor Cheng's campaign contribution from James Su of EDI Media. No one supported Kwan's proposal, so it failed to get on a future agenda.

I know from my time on City Council with Former Disgraced Mayor Eileen Wang, she told me that she had to go to many events outside the City of Arcadia and hand out certificates to people in exchange for their contributions to her campaign. I think that this type of reciprocity needs to be further examined for possible foreign influence.

Also, when we voted on the union contracts that led to a 20% increase in year one with a deficit budget, Wang voted "No" at first, then, at the next meeting, changed her vote. It was clear to me that she had been pressured to change her vote. Was it at the direction of the Chinese government? How will we ever know?

TRIBUTE TO FORMER CITY CLERK

GENE GLASCO

Last week we lost a true Hometown Hero.

Gene Glasco served as our City Clerk from 2014-2024, when he retired due to health reasons.

He was a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the Navy as a radioman for riverboat operations in the Mekong Delta.

He inspired a whole generation of young men and women with his sombering stories of serving in the Vietnam War.

When he was our City Clerk, he always made sure to note every Veteran event and held many educational events about military service and the impact the Vietnam War had on service men and women. He brought awareness and recognition to a generation of veterans that were persecuted by the public for serving their country.

Gene spearheaded the Vietnam War Veterans Monument in the Arcadia Los Angeles County Park at the corner of Santa Anita and Huntington. I was one of the many original donors supporting the monument and my father's name is on the plaque in tribute.

Raymond Cheung, AUSD School Board Member and fellow veteran, as set up a tribute to Gene at the Monument. Please leave flowers and cards for him in remembrance there. Thank you.

Gene was my neighbor and I loved him dearly. I will miss him.
