FOWH CORONAVIRUS UPDATES
JUNE 26, 2020
Dear Patient of FOWH,

As more people start going to work or going out, we are seeing more cases of COVID-19. In the past few weeks, almost half of newly diagnosed cases of the virus are people under age 40. Some hospitals are close to 100% capacity with sick COVID patients. The number one prevention we have is to wear masks.

Please wear your masks at all times when leaving your home (there are exceptions to this). This is not just our opinion, this is the law, signed by Governor Newsom on June 18, 2020. For more information click this link.
IMPORTANT - ARE YOU WAITING FOR A COVID TEST RESULT?
HAVE YOU HAD A RECENT COVID EXPOSURE?

Do you have an appointment with us and one of the following applies?:
  • You have recently undergone a COVID test due to a possible exposure and the results are pending.
  • You have recently been exposed to, or live with, someone who just tested positive for COVID (even if asymptomatic).
  • A contact tracer has informed you that you may have been exposed and that you need to have a COVID test done.

Help us avoid a scenario where we see a patient with one of the above situations who calls us after their appt and tells us their test came back positive. This could mean that some staff or patients were possibly exposed.

We urge you to call us if any of the above applies. We will determine if your appt can be safely delayed until you get a negative COVID test result.
CORONAVIRUS PRECAUTIONS REMAIN IN EFFECT
  1. No visitors inside the office (for exceptions, such as limited mobility, please let us know ahead of time). You may FaceTime or audio connect a guest during your medical exams as you wish. This also applies to prenatal exams and ultrasounds.
  2. Prior to your appt., all patients should have received a text message requesting them to wait in their car after arrival. A second text will be sent when we are ready for you to come to the office. Please see below.
  3. Once you come to the office, everyone must use our main entrance. This applies to all FOWH patients and Pasadena Pellet patients.
  4. Temp screening takes place. Anyone with temp above 99.8 or symptoms of possible COVID-19 will have to wait outside until a provider can assess the situation.
  5. All patients (and staff) must wear a mask at all times while in the office. Please bring your own, our supplies are limited.
  6. Hand sanitizer will be available at the front door.
  7. The waiting room and Primex lab will be closed from 12:00 to 1:30 pm.
  8. Sneeze guards have been placed at the check-in and check-out desks. Please try to remain behind them as you talk to the staff.

Thank you for you understanding and cooperation.
TEXT MESSAGING APPOINTMENT NOTIFICATIONS
The day before your appt. you will receive this text message. When you arrive for your appt. and park, reply to the text with the word "ARRIVED".
For a Monday appt. this text message will be sent the Friday before. When you arrive for your appt. and park, reply to the text with the word "ARRIVED".
We will send you this final text which asks you to wait in your car (or nearby the office). When we send "READY", please make
your way to the office.
Why do some people refuse to wear masks?
There are many reasons. A common one is that we should have the freedom to decide this for ourselves and the government should not be able to force this on us. Compare this to a discussion about stopping at red lights. "The government should not be able to force me to stop at a red light. I should have the freedom to drive through a red light if I want to."

This makes no sense. Why? Because of the risk -- the danger -- that an accident might occur. The driver might get hurt or their family (if they are in the car) or others, if there is a collision. Why can't we apply this logic to wearing a mask? Failure to wear one can hurt the person being exposed, can hurt their own family if they get sick and bring the virus home, or can hurt others.

PLEASE WEAR A MASK. YOU WILL SAVE LIVES. PERHAPS YOUR OWN.
