September 22nd and 23rd
L.V. Eberhard Center in downtown Grand Rapids

It has been two long years since we have been able to welcome and gather at the FPA of Michigan Annual Symposium. And after experiencing the societal trials and tribulations of the past couple of years, we owe it to ourselves to reconvene and reconnect with our peers! Over two days, you are invited to hear top speakers, share ideas, examine critical issues and learn how to play a pivotal role in paving the way forward for the profession. It’s an opportunity to rekindle past relationships and forge new ones—all in beautiful downtown Grand Rapids! The realities of what we have faced in recent years will remain with us for years to come, but we will prove our resilience as a community.

Did we mention that Dennis Moseley-Williams, Michael Kitces, Leon LaBrecque, just to name a few, will be presenting!

FPA of Michigan Members attend Advocacy Day in Lansing!
Thank you to all who participated in the FPA of Michigan Advocacy Day in Lansing on May 25th. Our FPA of Michigan Pro Bono committee held a Pro Bono financial planning session for 14 staffers of the legislators on Tuesday. On Wednesday, we embraced the opportunity to meet face-to-face (finally) with our legislators educating them on the FPA’s core member, the Certified Financial PlannerTM. We discussed the FPA’s support of financial literacy. In addition, we had the opportunity to thank several legislators who in May voted to pass House Bill 5190, which, once signed into law, will make a half-credit personal finance course that includes financial literacy a high school graduation requirement.

We were able to discuss the FPA's support of the deductibility of financial planning fees, which could help to encourage the public to seek needed quality financial advice, and the FPA’s opposition to financial service transaction taxes.

It was an exciting day to be able to advocate for our great profession, and we hope to see you next year!
