swerve-smiling-header.jpg CALL FOR NOMINATIONS!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to serve on a board?  Well this is your opportunity to find out.  We are looking for a few members to step forward and fill open spots on our 2015 board.  Get involved and give back.....you'll find it is well worth your while and a very rewarding experience!  We encourage you to nominate yourself or any other member in good standing (with their permission of course). Click here for a nomination form.

Two of our local board members, Vincent Barbera and Rachel Fieweger, had the opportunity to represent the FPA at the Philadelphia Business Journal's Annual Women's Conference on September 9th at the Union League in Philadelphia.  There were over 500 people in attendance at the event and Vincent and Rachel were able to share FPA's mission with the attendees and fellow exhibitors.  It proved to be a great platform to spread the word and stress the importance of sound financial planning.

 .......Can we talk?

Many of you may recognize that famous expression from Joan Rivers. I have been a big fan of Joan Rivers and her enduring career over the decades. How did she do it? She stayed relevant. She is an inspiration for me to stay relevant in my various roles. It means proving my worth, staying on top of trends, attitudes and behaviors. Showing up and being present every single day.

I feel like we have begun a new phase in our FPA Chapter and we need to continue to evolve so we stay relevant to our members and partners. We have young planners seeking opportunities and learning experiences from veteran planners. Technology is a driving force in how we communicate and run our businesses.

Thanks to all our members who joined us at the Fall Retreat this September and for those who couldn't make it, you missed out on a great event! The new venue of Normandy Farms offered a great spot to hear our presenters, spend time with sponsors and network with fellow FPA members.

Matt Oechsli kicked off the morning with an excellent program discussing deepening client relationships and building new high net worth client connections through a combination of business and social activities. Top advisors with whom he consults are having great success in growing their practices in what Matt called the next big wave of business development, bigger than what cold calling and seminar marketing were of decades past and a methodology that is a must for advisors of the future. He clearly resonated with the audience as we had to pull him off the stage as time ran over despite still fielding great questions and insight from FPA members.

We need your help!

Shortly you will receive a chapter survey to complete.  We are attempting to compile a list of key vendors, support services, or other providers that our membership are currently using.  Our chapter has many educational and sponsorship opportunities available and we'd like to be certain that we reach out to the firms that have relationships with our members and who we may have overlooked in the past several years.  All responses will be kept confidential and will not be shared.

Remember, outside sponsors are the reason the chapter can keep costs down and provide quality programming and services to its members.  The Philly chapter is one of a very few in the country to NOT charge a local dues fee and we would like to keep it that way for the future.
