JOIN US FOR PRIDEFEST 2022 THIS SATURDAY MAY 21
|
Come join us as our community celebrates Pridefest 2022 on May 21. The day begins with a parade that starts at 5th and Vine (behind Staab’s Funeral Home) and will proceed to Capitol Street. Our church will be marching and you are welcome to join us. All you need to do is show up at the starting point around 10:30 and look for our group. We will have a First Presbyterian banner that we march behind so we will be easy to spot. The parade will start at 11:00. Marching gives us an excellent opportunity to publicly show our support for Q+ folks. If you know you are marching please click here to let us know OR just show up.
We will have a booth on Capitol Street during the festival from noon to 6:00 p.m. If you are enjoying the festival be sure to stop by and say “hi”. We will be offering information about the church, freebies to give away, and cold water to drink.

Best Wishes for Angie Pryer on New Endeavors
|
This spring, our pianist, Angie Pryer, took a job that leads her in new directions. She is also excited to continue music lessons through her studio. So, after twelve years of accompanying our choir and leading worship, she tendered her resignation, effective May 22nd.
With gratitude for her musical gifts, we are asking you to send in notes and cards. You still have time! You can email your note or drop a note in the basket on your way into service. We will have note cards available on Sunday morning in the narthex. We want to present her with a basket full of thanksgiving! You can email notes to [email protected] or you can bring or mail cards of your choice. Please join us on May 22 to celebrate Angie's music ministry with us!

Faith Fiber and Fellowship announces a Prayer Shawl Ministry
|
The purpose of a Prayer Shawl ministry is to comfort the recipient. To show them they are loved by the person who made the shawl, or gave the shawl or both and most of all to feel God’s love when wrapped in it.
We do not know who will receive the shawl when we are making it. But we pray for that person as we work. Shawls may be given for healing, grieving, leaving and many other reasons. I believe the need to give one to someone is spirit driven.
If you would like to request a prayer shawl, Contact Mary Young to set up a time to select a shawl. These are provided as part of the Faith Fiber and Fellowship ministry at no cost.
If there are no shawls. We will contact you as soon as one is completed. They are always being made. We have 4 people presently who are making them. If you are interested in creating a shawl, whether you come to a Faith Fiber and Fellowship meeting or not, we would welcome your help. Contact Mary Young, [email protected]

The Evangelism and Communication Committee is seeking church members who are willing to share their story about what led them to become a member of First Presbyterian Church and how that membership provides meaning/purpose for their faith journey. The EC Committee believes our church members’ experiences are the best source of information for those seeking a new faith home. We are seeking volunteers to share their story in a 1-2-minute video clip recorded by Chris Young that will be shared on our church website. To schedule your recording, please email Chris Young directly to arrange a time.

Our church continues to serve evening meals at two shelters for people experiencing homelessness. Team members donate or prepare menu items and help serve. If you would like to help with this, please contact Barb Olson, JoAnne Durkee or Chaplain Tim Haworth.
