LECTIONARY CLASS
Sundays at 9:45 a.m.
Robert Day Meeting Room
March 2: Even the greatest mountaintop experience comes to an end. We return to our ordinary daily activities and frustrations. What remains from the mountaintop? Does it continue to transform and inspire us, or is it just a memory?
March 9: Lent is a time for self-examination, but before we can begin that process, we need to re-affirm that it is God whom we worship and serve. Jesus deflected the devil's temptations by putting the focus on God. "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

MEANING IN THE MIDDLE
Sundays 8:00 p.m., via Zoom
(Link is sent in weekly email)
We are using the resource d365, a Presbyterian / mainline devotional to guide our discussion. There is no reading or prep required, and our topics vary from week to week, so you won't have missed anything.
We need leaders for our weekly Zoom discussions and our monthly in-person gatherings. The sign-up sheet for both is here. If you haven't already done so, please sign up for two weeks on the spreadsheet, and a giant THANK YOU to those who have already signed up.

ACTS OF REPARATION DOCUMENTARY
Sunday, March 2nd
5:00 p.m. | Watts-Hill Hall
Two friends – one Black, one white – travel South to their ancestral lands to explore what reparations means to them. From kitchen tables to porches, lost cemeteries to discovered diaries, their journeys lead to unexpected opportunities that transform their friendship, families and communities. Together they reclaim and reckon with their roots and find that small acts can lead to big change. Together, Selina Lewis Davidson and FPC’s own Macky Alston, will join us by Zoom after this showing.

DURHAM CROP HUNGER WALK
The annual CROP Hunger Walk will be held in the afternoon of March 23, and First Pres has a group of people walking to raise money for alleviating hunger. One-fourth of the funds raised remains here in Durham to uplift many of the organizations we support that work to end hunger, including the Emanuel Food Pantry, Urban Ministries of Durham, Meals on Wheels, and several others. The remaining 75% is distributed by Church World Service to disaster relief and self-help projects in more than 30 countries where hunger needs are particularly acute.
There are two ways to support the CROP Walk. First, you can join the First Pres team and walk on March 23. Secondly, you can make a donation to sponsor one of those who is walking. The link below takes you to the First Pres page where you can either join or donate to sponsor someone. Either way it will help us reach our goal of raising $6,000.

FIRST FRIENDS
New Members Are Always Welcome!
| |
First Friends is a fellowship group of folks that usually meet on weekend evenings, pretty much monthly. All are welcome! Most of the group is 50+. We have potlucks in homes, at church, or out on the trails and we have a famous (infamous?) annual beach trip in September. Check out our Spring events below!
We hope new members will feel free to come and join for good conversation, pretty good food, and building the community of Christ.
Feel free to reach out to Deborah or Christyn for more information.
