Session Meeting Recap
The Session met on Sunday at 4 p.m. for its regular meeting, beginning with worship that included a devotional from Christi Granstaff.
We approved minutes from the January regular meeting and two additional called meetings, one to vote on the Preschool Task Force Report and one to receive new members.
In addition to routine business, the Session heard a brief update from the Re-Open Task Force and is encouraged by the continuing downward trends of the virus counts. We are grateful for the work of this group since April of 2020. We will consider dissolving the task force at the next regular meeting.
Session approved a motion from the Mission Committee that FPC be an emergency shelter for the Williamson County Homeless Alliance. This will involve opening Wilson Hall as needed during extreme heat or cold temperatures. The Alliance provides persons to stay and cleans up.
Session approved a motion from Facilities Management that we lease space to Battleground Academy Lower School (K-4) for a period not to exceed August-October, 2022. BGA needs to house their school while renovations are completed on their campus. Proceeds from the lease will go to Facilities Management Capital Replacement Fund. We will begin negotiating the lease right away.
Session approved a budget blueprint for $1.2 million for the next two budget years. This blueprint is being used for the Glory to Glory capital campaign communications. Once the campaign is over in mid-April the Session will approve a final budget that reflects pledges received. We encourage everyone to please continue your giving based on your previous year’s pledge while the campaign is going on. If you give via a bank draft, you will need to re-authorize the church to continue receiving your gift in that way. The Glory to Glory campaign continues to go well and we have received a number of early commitments.
The Session approved the monthly financial report. Please consult the monthly newsletter, where an abbreviated report is included in each issue.
We heard an update on the closing of the Preschool and received communication from the Administration Committee that a working group has been established to manage that process – Diane Fender, Paula Frank, Dave Stivers, Bruce Tarkington, Kim Joiner, and Mary Sellers Shaw.
The Session adjourned. The next regular meeting is March 20, 4:00 p.m., in Barr Conference Room.
