Peace…Reflection…Silence

I don’t know about you, but these days seem to get louder and busier and more frantic. As a child, there was a television commercial that exclaimed “Calgon, take me away!” It offered a bath product which promised warmth, fragrance, relaxation, and an escape from life’s complications. Perhaps you recall this commercial – and perhaps you find yourself wishing for some “Calgon” time to “get away!”

This Sunday, September 25, the Contemplative Ministry team offers a time of peace and
silence, a time for reflection, a time for quiet and beautiful music of the harp (Patrick Murphy) and violin (Jorge Rodriguez-Ochoa), a time of singing prayers, a time for lighting candles, and a time to listen for God’s voice. The sacred space is our beautiful sanctuary, where the ceilings reach heavenward, the sounds float and surround, and you are bathed in God’s abundant arms.

Join your fellow travelers as we pray, sing, and listen this Sunday, September 25 in a Service of Contemplation at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Peace, my friends,
Patrick Murphy

From the Contemplative Ministry Team….
Looking for a way to stop, take a breath and have an intimate talk with God? The Contemplative Ministry Team has a gift for you. Stop by the table outside the church office and pick up “The Knot Prayer” card. This simple contemplative prayer is an excellent meditation tool when talking with God. A single piece of leather can help you pause and ask God to show you the unique story the Holy Spirit is writing in your life. See how this prayer uses knots to help free us from the “could nots,” the “would nots,”
the “should nots,” and the “am nots” that crowd our lives. It is our gift to you with the
simple benediction “Peace.”
